i've enjoyed multiple tease from them over more than a few years now, and they are my go to for Japanese greens when I have a craving for something that is not part of my Obubu Tea Farm subscription. I particularly like that they have some Tseun teas That are otherwise very hard to get, because Tseun doesn't have their own western facing website for online orders.

Good info. I had no idea that Tseun teas were available on their site. Do they normally send out preorders for the new season? I just made a profile and signed up for their mailing list. Thanks for the info!

O-cha sends out an email about Shincha in the spring. Tsuen teas are among my favorites. I start my morning with Tsuen Karigane Otsuusan.

Gift tea - 2023 blc - thick murky good stuff

Been drinking this blc every day.
During each session, i think back to the late 90s when i visited suzhou during the summers. Aside from the pretty courtyard mansions- i mainly remember the awful stench from the lake, which was thickly coated with nuclear green algae. Embedded in that layer were all sorts of garbage from plastic container pieces to cigarette butts.

The stench was sulferous and also industrial - a bit like phenol from the lab. In fact, a lot of lakes and rivers in China where i would visit every summer in the late 90s and early 2000s seemed to be like that.

How can anything good grow from this environment?

And yet this tea seems ok - though i keep getting the impression that it was scented with "liu sheng" a kind of cooling body wash that is popular in china.

Kuma Tea Gardens-Gyokuro Tenkaichi smooth and sweet. Testing out higher temps and longer steeps for the next two cups.

I've been drinking the House Green (Mao Feng) from Floating Leaves, a gift. First time with Chinese greens in many years.

4g/100ml in a gaiwan from Ferg, 195F 60s, 205F 60s, 212F 90s, 212F ~3min. Slight vegetal flavors (peas, mostly) and sweet caramelized wheat notes that remind me of my Mother's pizelles. Lovely aroma but it doesn't live up to it in flavor. Maybe I'll try ~5g and shorter infusions.

That's a striking shibo. The deliberate pinholes look like they lend it an interesting texture as well as being beautiful.

it is a favorite that feels good in the hand with a mix of coarse clay, slick shino, matte and shiny textures, curves and straight lines and sharp angles, and it makes a fine cup of green tea!

Finished celebrating the New Year in Tea with a session of Orchid Dew green tea from MaunaKea tea, a special occasion treat that was reliably lovely as always--delicately floral, a little vegetal, and a little leaf goes a long way.

hibiki-an offered free samples of yuzu flavored green tea a few months ago. Finally got around to trying it this morning. Bit too much for me but glad I tried it.

I love citrus in herbal tea blends, and I like citrus flower scented tea, but when I think of citrus flavoring C sinensis tea, Earl Gray comes to mind and I cringe. I don't know enough about Yuzu to really have a good sense of whether that would be a good thing compared to some other citrus possibilities, but I'm afraid I would be prejudiced against such a tea before I even took a sip.

Enjoying a very nice XinBei green tea made from wild bushes. Long deep floral aftertaste, bright mouthfeel, and, more importantly for me, an active but very calming feeling, especially for a green tea. It somehow seems to match today's warm weather and clear blue sky.
