Now I am curious if my squirrel pot is authentic now maybe I can trade for a 60s hongni pot one day lol

that on the other hand doesn't mean anything, Minguo means Republic of China, which ended of course at some point, so not authentic, unless they mean "processed in a similar way as was done during ROC."

Anyways, just the usual marketing crap of vendors trying to create more confusion than clarity for customers by inventing more and more newly invented clay categories... as if it weren't complicated enough already.

Yeah not sure what kind of clay that exactly is, but nothing natural… additives for sure. Does look very nuclear green.

In fact had a session last night with some Zheng yan rougui from lazy cat that had an aggressive roast.

The new clay definitely muted the roast and some other flavors as expected for an unseasoned pot. But unexpectedly for me, the aftertaste was greatly enhanced. I did a porosity check and found almost no change in weight before and after the session (0.02g)! Seems to have minimal porosity compared to other clays.

I'm not sure what can explain this but after the session, and after it has dried, the pot has developed a floral - rosy - scent...

Unfortunately covid19 separated me from my camera, and it is night now so I don't have great lighting. I tried my best with my phone's camera. This is an early 1970s jiazini side handle gezui:

wouldn’t hold my breath… even if it’s close to 1K which is likely, that’s not worth it in my opinion, I’d rather go for an earlier pre factory Zini, which won’t cost more or even less.

No, it is not the same type of zini. The one on ZAG is a lighter colored zini that was used in the 70s. As far as I know, the rear handled version of jiazini was only made in the 1960s, in the 1970s jiazini is only used on the side handle pots. I would expect the rear handle jiazini gezuis to be at least $1200.

This is basically the "but I really want it" argument, against which there is no real rebuke, except perhaps when arguing with your kids, and even then it is an uphill battle, fought in a very steep hill.

mm $1200 for the rear handle is from direct sources elsewhere, if ZAG is pricier it could also be $1500 or more.
This lighter early 70s zini is quite similar to the late 70s. Jiazini is usually considered more desirable, the impact on tea will be small, but if it's for collection purposes the current ZAG pot and jiazini are two very different things.

I’m only looking to add a single 60-70’s zini pot to my collection. Bummer that this isn’t the more coveted zini since the price seems reasonable for early 70’s.
