Finally, I got a Duanni (or Lüni) F1 teapot. At least I am pretty sure it's F1. Probably from the mid 80s? There are not many for sale in Europe. Yeah, I know that's not perfect... I am still happy I found it It cost me a little more than $100. A reasonable price in my opinion and not much of a gamble.

Could anybody tell me the type of clay if I show you a close up shot once the teapot has arrived?

Looks more like Duanni to me. Hows the surface texture? And the sound? But needs more pictures, cuz Lüni is difficult to take picture of.

Agreed! Color looks more like duanni. I owned a M&L lüni pot, it’s well made, but I don’t have enough knowledge on lüni to tell the quality of the clay

I'll update you on the teapot once it arrives. Maybe, I could have gotten a better teapot from MudandLeaves, but I am not a big fan of modern teapots. I like to use vintage stuff. If it's something modern it has to be very good. And that's unlikely for just a hundred bucks.

Does M&L sell custom pots? And why would I prefer M&L over Yinchen?

I have got a tea boat / plate / tea tray on my wishlist, but it should not contain lead. Unfortunately, even the pewter tea trays EoT sells contain lead. At least I have read that somewhere.

I think most Chinese porcelain that’s consider antiquity has potential lead issue. For a tea plate, it shouldn’t matter much unless one licks the tea plate lol. If you are that sensitive, maybe a zisha plate from F1 will do. I know EOT has them, but I haven’t seen them on sale

Yeah, I have seen them too. A zisha plate from F1 would be great, but I have not seen a single plate for sale in the West. If EoT sells them they will be very expensive I guess. Globalteahut.org sells a nice teaboat for $60. Maybe, I will buy it some time. I have not found anything better yet.

I see, with blue and white, the glaze is fired with the clay at the same time, so less likely to leak unless chip or firing imperfection

Interior of lid looks a bit weird but otherwise it does seem like a green label pot. I’ve have one w/ slightly different duanni that I use for aged oolong. the downside to this shape is that I needs to be under filled due to drips. Love the shape and clay though.

@karma, my apologies for replying late. I’ve been busy networking and capturing the moment, as you may imagine.

The link you posted times out so I cannot see the pot. I would still purchase from Gao. I am still pleased with the teapot I purchased from him. It’s entirely hand made and the clay is nice. For years I was concerned with the poor quality of modern Yixing available to us in the West, but the teapot I got from him changed my mind.

Perhaps you can post a photo of the teapot and some details about it and others can comment if if will be a good match for the puerh you enjoy.
