Many things look odd here, but does it look safe to use?

Definitely looks interesting! Could be rubbish or a lucky strike! I would go for a deep clean and see how it turns out.

Thanks...Yea, I'm far from being an expert, but the lid looks somewhat weird (seems too flat), and I have never seen such seal.
I have seen a few ones with flat lid, most of them at least 60ies or even ROC Qing. There is one guy in Japan who has a crazy antique, not vintage! collection and I remember seeing those flat lids and slightly wonky proportions.
Its not mine yet....
A friend got it. Though I think I'll take it even if its not very old...I really like the shape. I thought to share it since I really like to learn how to identify the old stuff and I'm concerned is that it is made of some icky stuff in order to make it look old...(happened to me once
)I would go for it!

Check Dr Lu, he posted a pot of his, which also had a much flatter lid than usually seen these days. Would also post on their FB group once you own the pot. Someone there will probably have a hint!
What I would definitely do, is to very carefully sand the spout until it is even again, otherwise the waterflow might get annoying and the overall look will improve as well.

The poor definition of the chop suggest that it is slipcast. Can you find any other indications that it slipcast (for example, concave dimples on the inside where the handle connects; or mold lines)?
The color is peculiar to me. It is darker than regular hongni, as though some iron had been added to the clay to make it darker.
From the photos it appears to be a slipcast replica of an antique teapot. I would have to have more photos or hold it in my own hands to tell more about it.

You are right about the dark red – unless it is an antique like the ones from the Japanese collection I linked to, where a lot of the pots have this rich dark tones.
I guess better close-ups of stamp, clay and spout would help to determine more details.
It does look pretty red, but as Bok says, I have seen hongnis from the 60s that can look pretty red.

Not yixing. Possibly CZ based on interior lines and way spout opening is done.
