TeaLife.HK -- Classic HK-style Teas!
Thank you for the purchase!
June 1st is the Second Anniversary for TeaLife Hong Kong. Thank you all for your continued support and appreciation over the last two years! It's been a heck of a ride and I've learnt a lot more about tea than I thought I would!
To celebrate this milestone, I'm offering 18% off sitewide through June 1st! No code is needed and there is no order minimum. I've added a lot more tea and teaware over the last month, and I have a lot more coming in the weeks to come!
Please note packaging and shipping may take one to two weeks! TeaLife Hong Kong is a one-man show and I only have a few hours of part-time help a week from my lovely assistant (and best friend) Ophelia. I don't yet make enough to take on more people to help with packaging, but I hope to in the year to come (if all goes well)!
Thank you again for your support and I hope you enjoy my teas as much as I do!
Also please check out the June edition of Airbnb Magazine if you get a chance! I joined Max Falkowitz for dim sum during his visit to Hong Kong and there are photographs of the dim sum, tea (and me) in the article!

This may be the last sale I do: TeaLife HK isn’t generating enough revenue for me to cover my expenses, so I will be looking for a full-time job next month. Thanks to everyone who purchased over the last two years! The site will stay up, but it’s probable that it will be strictly a part-time thing after this sale is over.

I think the number of online tea vendors closing shop is equal to the number who open shops; &, it is especially difficult for people interested in finding & selling high quality & rare teas. Not only do few people want these teas; those of us who do like them, may not need many grams of them each year. Being a vendor as a sideline or hobby has value fortunately, even if one is doing well to break even on the $.tealifehk wrote: ↑Sat May 19, 2018 6:14 amThis may be the last sale I do: TeaLife HK isn’t generating enough revenue for me to cover my expenses, so I will be looking for a full-time job next month. Sad to here Jay. Tasting teas popular in and with history in hong kong has been a special experience for me as my family is from there. I will continue to make purchases from you as long as your sites still runs, and I wish you the best in the future, whatever you end up doing.tealifehk wrote: ↑Sat May 19, 2018 6:14 amThis may be the last sale I do: TeaLife HK isn’t generating enough revenue for me to cover my expenses, so I will be looking for a full-time job next month. Thanks ethan and teachronicles! Will be putting up some Yixing F1s over the next week that I've been holding onto for resale. I do have a warehouse to pay rent on so it looks like I'll be working weekends for a while to come!
Shame it does not bring enough in for you!
But as others have said, real quality tea is still very much a niche product in the west! You picked an even more niche offering among it, which probably did not make your life easier. I for one still find it a fantastic idea to specialise in the HK style of good teas and hope it continues to at least give you a little extra income and if it only is to find better teas for yourself!
Which is what I was told once by the owner of a big french tea brand, that it allows himself to get access to better teas he would not being offered if not in the business

Very sad to hear that. I have enjoyed everything I have ordered from you and will continue to order.tealifehk wrote: ↑Sat May 19, 2018 6:14 amThis may be the last sale I do: TeaLife HK isn’t generating enough revenue for me to cover my expenses, so I will be looking for a full-time job next month. Thank you, I appreciate the business and I'm not going anywhere yet! I still drink tea and will continue to offer the same products I do now, and add new ones over time.
Sales volume has been much better: this is just a very expensive city and I my mom is on very expensive renal dialysis (her insurance has a cap and the excess comes out of pocket). Looks like I need a full-time job and full-time TeaLife to make ends meet.

Jay, if you were going to recommend one of your current raws, which would it be? I'm looking for sweetness with some complexity (whether bitterness or pepperiness or something else). I generally don't like smoke that much.
I find it much easier to pick shou that I want to buy from you, but get lost in the descriptions for the sheng!

On the traditional side, I'd pick the 2002 7532, 2001 7542, 2005 8582. On the dry side: the 2007 CNNP Yiwu Big Green Tree, the Changtai 65 or the 2008 Spring of Menghai! I wouldn't say any of the raw cakes I have up are remotely smokey!VoirenTea wrote: ↑Sat May 26, 2018 7:00 pmJay, if you were going to recommend one of your current raws, which would it be? Thank you! I ordered samples of some of those and a variety of other things
