Is scratchy throat a sign of bad tea?
I was having this black Alishan Taiwanese tea 2022 from a french Taiwan vendor and since the first sip I have a cat in my throat, that is the only way I can express it in french.
I keep clearing my throat. I've had black Lishans from TTC and hojo and never encountered this before. Bad tea or just bad me?

Can be, but it wouldn't be as extreme in my view, unless the poster is especially sensitive? Hongcha is often harvested in summer > lots of insects > so pesticides would make perfect sense. High mountain is harsh environment as well.
I can handle heavy roasted fine. I think it was pesticides...It subsided eventually but it took some time. I've never had that kind of feelinng that pronounced before.
One thing I'm glad is that I did a small small order of the teas from this vendor. Not ordering again. Today I had his one of his lishan, not impressed at all.
