Hello,
We carelessly left tea in our cast iron teapot (from Marriage Frères, so probably enamel on inside originally) for around 2 months. After that my husband noticed it smelled so he cleaned it possibly with soap, not sure, and then with another product. I've tried making tea in the pot a couple of times since but it has what I would call a metal-y taste which I can't stand. Do you know of any solution for this problem? I drink a lot of green tea but also black teas and other types (red, herbal, etc;)
Attached are a couple of photos.
Thanks for your help.

It's the raw/rusty iron reacting with your tea. The easiest solution is to get a porcelain, glass or ceramics teapot from leboncoin and use that instead.
Otherwise, several rounds of boiling tea can help to convert the red rust to a black rust, which is less reactive, but it will still react with your tea, and still keep rusting more...

Thanks for your answer. I'll try boiling tea a few times before giving up but have been using a porcelaine teapot lately. The cast iron one is pretty so was trying to avoid getting rid of it. But the tea has to taste good! Have a nice day.
