Thanks! That what I was guessing but I often find it hard to judge the clay on these 90’s or newer pots. This one seems to be on the redder side of zini.steanze wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 3:47 pmIt looks like qingshuini. Note that the term is a bit generic, for modern pots it mostly means that it's zini on the lighter-colored end of the spectrum. It's harder to tell the specific mine where the ore is from.Chadrinkincat wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 3:31 pm
Speaking of clays, what are peoples thoughts on this one? Texture feels kinda silky. Hongni, fine qingshuni or some just some generic zisha blend?

@DailyTX I figured you were up to 6-7 by now.
@Chadrinkincat
I have slowed down my pot collecting addiction this year lol. This year, I find my self looking at simpler shapes and TiLiang (hard) style pots. It’s hard to come by a good Tiliang style pot without causing an arm or a leg. I guess I’ll continue looking for now haha

What Tiliang style pots have you been looking for?

I also don’t mind the San Cha TiLiang style

Thanks @steanze for providing input. 1 more tally for factory haha. Btw I didn’t know you are vendor steanze. Do you own a shop or just occasionally sharing your treasures with members here?steanze wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 12:47 pmLooks like early 1980s green label F1 to me. Good clay.DailyTX wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 12:45 pmSince we are back to focusing on Yixing, I'll share this interesting pot. I was contemplating between pre-factor, factory, or replica. I also consulted with a few members privately and got different answers haha. I have put this pot to a test with shu puerh, Liu Bao, dancong, and shuixian (yancha). So far shuixian yield the best result in terms of taste vs. porcelain gaiwan. This pot soaked up water, tea or whatever liquid you pour on it super fast to the point that it drinks more tea than I do LOL. I think this may be the reason it started to develop patina faster than my ROC pot. Feel free to chime in

You are welcome! I collaborate with a vendor for the sourcing of teapots and teas, so I wanted to have the vendor tag for transparency. I don't actively sell through my account and I don't intend to use this account to advertise, so it makes sense that it is not widely known.

I can’t afford the ones from the link haha. Maybe a F1 version if opportunity comes.

A plain ROC one without carving and maker marks. Depended on clay, 5-10k usd. Carving will add a significant price jump. Carving with artist signature, another exponential jump. All the above with potter’s mark, truly cannot imagine

Looking for my 1st Yixing teapot. I know very little about Yixing. I have been using Hojo's Kobiwako Houhin for the past 3 years. Are these pots good for the price? Are the clay good for semi aged and aged puerh teas? Where can I buy a good and legit Yixing pot for less than $500? Thank you in advance.

In general speaking, you can’t go wrong with zini if you are brewing aged puerh. Since you are in the US, you can check this vendor out. Shipping and cost are decent. Clay is good. Craftsmanship may not be not perfect, a good starting point to appreciate Factory 1 Yixing.vuanguyen wrote: ↑Tue Dec 21, 2021 9:23 pmLooking for my 1st Yixing teapot. I know very little about Yixing.
