Sorry to barge in
I have done something i usually don't - i snatched a pot over ebay. The final price was reasonable enough to take that gamble, especially because the pot did look genuine. And it would be a nice pot for the occasions one would like to use a larger pot.
Arrived now, it still looks genuine to me. The clay looks nice, and it has been well used by its former owner, and possibly well loved as well. Which is why i am pondering to leave it as it is, with very superficial cleaning, or to reset it. Don't know, it doesn't have disgusting gunk, having filled it with hot water i could not detect any disagreeable smells, and the patina is nice...

Anyhow... what do the more knowledgeable members here say? F1, or F2? Am i wrong in thinking that it is genuinly vintage, or a modern copy? And, is someone able to decipher the characters?

I highly doubt this one is a modern copy. Clay looks like early 80’s period. Around 350ml?

Nice catch!! Good to see more of this common pot surfacing. It’s one of my favorites!! Looks pretty promising to be a F1. Can you share a photo of the filter hole?

Look what just hopped out from the rabbit hole…

Been receiving many many news of fellow tea buddies acquiring the Han’s Gentlemen pot…. What a joy!!!! My all time favorite!! Simple and elegant… yet strong and commanding. Most importantly is it’s extremely functional. Single hole, 6 holes, golf ball, flower filters… you name it, the Han’s got it!! Hahahahaha…. Ok ok… I’m getting too hyped….. here’s a little bird’s eye view….

Yours looks well loved, the patina is wow!
I think i decided against resetting mine. It would destroy the patina. Well, unless i find out that the previous owner used it with some fruity tea or smilar unspeakable things

Europe is interesting for tea pots. Once a while, very rarely, when walking around flea markets, one sees a lonely and unloved pot for ridiculous amounts. Most likely i guess someone bought it as a souvenier or a novelty many decades ago, then it just collected dust, and they are then sold for a few Euros when a household is cleaned. I always keep my eyes open at flea markets...

While this one wasn't over the flea market but ebay, and not ridiculously cheap, it was still for a price i believe substantially lower than i would have to pay in Asia.

Why F1 didn't make zhuni or dahongpao teapots and nowadays market is full of them?

Zhuni / DHP isn't good for mass production. And F1 produced teapots more based on the finished look than the raw ore.

So having a red teapot that can be mass produced is better than a red teapot with horrible yield.

Does anybody know anything about the double chamber teapots? See e.g.

Are these wedding teapots? What is their symbolic or use?
They are obviously not very practical since the front chamber is sort of a black box, impossible to clean.
As far as i can say, the two chambers are always tied together with a ribbon, sometimes there's also some kind of stick or hinge thing placed where the chambers meet under the ribbon, and the back chamber is placed higher on a round stand.

I guess I'll give it a bicarbonate/citric acid warm reset cycle and then see what it can do with my tea.

Unless a pot is really dirty and smelly, why would one want to clean it that agressively? If a pot is clean and well used there is no need to reset it.
