This is pretty much the response I got from Dr. Lu when I asked about my 60’s pot that has some iron spots. Uncommon but not unheard of so one shouldn’t take “60-70’s shouldn’t have mica + black spots” too literally.

That’s a pretty good summary!Chadrinkincat wrote: ↑Sun Jul 04, 2021 8:07 amJLZ is a simple functional design w/ rustic charms that appeals to fans of standard SP. It is a must have shape for westerns that own too many F1 pots and want something older than 60’s.

Nope. I was sharing my experience of making the mistake of selling a legit antique pot for a very low price. I used the cash to buy a couple cakes of YQH instead of a tong.DailyTX wrote: ↑Sun Jul 04, 2021 12:03 pmMark-SChadrinkincat wrote: ↑Sun Jul 04, 2021 8:13 amYea if multiple Asian collectors are asking to buy it odds are it might be worthwhile to not sell it before getting an accurate estimate of its worth. @Chadrinkincat Great craftsmanship
looks even better than the 60's version from ZAG (in my opinion). However, I think the tongue was missing, right? But still very nice...

It does seem a bit more refined than that 60’s version. The one at ZAG is only version I’ve seen from before late 70’s though. I don’t think I’ve come across any on FB groups which seems odd.Mark-S wrote: ↑Sun Jul 04, 2021 1:57 pmChadrinkincat Great craftsmanshiplooks even better than the 60's version from ZAG (in my opinion). Tongue is fully intact on this one so basically mint condition.
You should definitely get a accurate appraisal of your possible antique pot before considering selling it just in case yours is worth 2-3x more than your current 2 offers. Glad I bought good tea when I sold my dragon pot but I easily left 2000% profit on the table.

I actually think this is a rather ugly design. I only own this shape because I feel like it would be odd to not have at least one example from F1.
Just curious, I suppose... How common are these kinds of pots?
Is there anything particularly special to them that anyone can teach me about?
I assume that it's a late 80s or so F1.
