I enjoy the art of the teapot and it wasn't so expensive so I'm ok with just using it as a nice decoration. I have a proper modern yixing clay teapots to use for tea.

How do you know it's not yixing? Not arguing just want to get knowledge.

Of course, happy to elaborate. The texture and exterior shine of the clay does not look like Yixing. The interior looks like this pot was not built by hand or with a mold, it's more likely that it was thrown on a wheel. Yixing teapots are not thrown on a wheel.

I am looking for some teapot feedback from members familiar with hong ni from late 70's or early 80's?

My teapot looks like the picture steanze posted Tue Oct 10, 2017 2:14 am (2nd post on this topic) but I see some shiny mica on the inside of mine so not 60s from what I've read here. Lid isn't a great fit which I'm told might be a sign of F1?
The lid mark 友芬 someone translated for me as You Fen so guessing the artist which makes me doubt it's F1 but need some help on that

I've managed to find the same teapot on 2 websites and wondering if it's actually worth Singapore $200 because if so, I did ok lol

I tried to get some feedback on 'another' forum but no one commented and now I realize (thanks to this forum) other forum isn't very active for various reasons!

Whatever it's history is, I have been enjoying trying various oolongs from Taiwan and Fujian with this little teapot which I picked up at an auction. So far, my tea supply is not great but Dong Ding seems to be my favourite in this little one.

I have been paying more attention to duan ni pots lately, I noticed some pots have small patches of either zini or hongni that’s not evenly mixed in, so it created a swirl pattern/movement pattern on the pot. Anyone know if this is a flaw or a good sign of clay?

Good observation. It is neither, it can happen in good clay and in not so good clay.

Is it the same relationship like white spot/雞眼 in DiCaoQing? Some has more, some has less, and it’s randomly disputed on a pot?

Mm sort of, a bit different because duanni is a mix of ores. You can find something similar in zini blends, i.e. F1 jiazini can have some small "patches"

@steanze: I'm curious, are the dark lines on the body of this teapot similar to what you're referring to? They're a bit harder to see in photos than in person.

Thank you; I'd be curious to learn what my discolourations are as well. I was hoping that they might mean that my pot isn't adulterated with barium, but I look forward to learning the real answer.

this isn't efflorescence either... will try to take pictures of the other phenomenon when I have time, I can't get to that now...
