A sideways anecdote: recent price I saw here for a 60s Hongni Shuiping 12-cups. Asking price the equivalent of 1600USD!

I knew these large ones are sort of rare, but that price is not worth it. For that price I can get a nice antique instead...

yes those are steep. I might even consider selling mine at those prices

Anybody who could translate this mark for me? It's my own pot. I'd like to find more information about it online, but so far I got nothing.

That sounds, well, steep. Saying that, I've been consistently surprised by how much the larger 60s pots tend to go for generally. I'm guessing it's due to the larger sizes being both rarer and preferred in Taiwan/Japan where most of them still live. Do you find sub-100ml pots are still less sought-after among tea drinkers in Taiwan? Might be a misbegotten notion of mine so wanted to ask.

I'm afraid that you say that this is junk, hahaha. The teapot could be very old... or a nice replica in my opinion.

I love the carvings on this pot. They are very detailed and look almost like a painting. You can see hills, different trees, mountains, houses, bridges, clouds and even small boats and birds.

There are not many visible minerals in the clay. I don't know if this is a red flag for not being authentic. I thought that this level of purity could only be achieved with chemicals. But for this to judge, I am simply not experienced enough. Most teapots I own (most of them are likely from Factory 1) have more "imperfections" in the clay.

I’d take a hard pass on a $1600 60’s pot even in a rare size like that.

how did you know it’s bamboo style. I am very impressed haha. Yeah, it’s about 200 ml black star clay. I’ll take a photo later if you would like to see the pot.

Update: Here is a photo of the bamboo pot. The one on the right hand side is the 200 ml one. Craftsmanship is not as fine as the little one (left one).

Good to hear The lid is decorated with the Eight Trigrams (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bagua). I can show you more photos in about two weeks when I have cleaned the pot. It's quite heavy (600 grams) and the volume is 500ml. I've bought it from a German collector of Chinese porcelain. He told me that he purchased it from an antique dealer when he was in Vietnam in 2006. It cost me $5000. Just joking... it wasn't that expensive.

I’ve no idea, as I haven’t been looking for these since a long time and there simple not many to be seen in the first place...

@MmBuddha not sure, smaller ones seem to be around in larger numbers, either because not popular in the past and overlooked (not now anymore, they do get popular), or made in larger quantities to begin with?
