What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Drinking 2017 Hai Lang Hao "Lao Ban Zhang" Ripe Pu-erh Tea Brick.
It's soooooooo bitter! It's more bitter than the 2016 Hai Lang Hao "Lao Ban Zhang Gu Shu" Ancient Arbor Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake I sampled from Yunnan Sourcing, I figured they would be of similarly sourced material.

It's a bit strong for me, I don't like teas that are this strong. I wonder if the bitterness will mellow out if aged for a year or so. The light funkiness of the tea can be controlled by my duan ni pot but the bitterness is still too much for it.

Never thought I'd have a shou that's more bitter than a sheng!

Interesting, I've never had a bitter ripe. It costs way more than I would normally spend on shou, but I might have to try a sample

Currently drinking 2017 W2T Sloppy Jimbo; true to the name it has an oily/meaty texture. The taste is unoffensive, but the mouthfeel is it's best characteristic.

Well it is made from Lao Ban Zhang material. + It's being sold by Yunnan Sourcing so you can feel confident that it is genuine.

Drinking 2017 White2Tea IPA; good, but not what I was expecting. It's a fairly mild, musky, refined sort of young sheng with a floral aroma. I was hoping for punchy, bitter, and hop-like.

2001 7542 Private Order sheng

These teas are similar in that both have vibrant mouthfeel, relaxing cha qi, and steady, yet uneventful, infusions.

I'm having some 2017 Farmer-Leaf Single Trees. Fresh, thick, great energy and very nice lingering feel in the mouth. I'm very happy that I bought a cake.
