It was labeled as Ming Feng Shan. Does anyone know where Ming Feng Shan is located? Hojo sells single tea trees but I don't think they are from famous area...otherwise, the price would have been astronomical.

There's a 鸣凤山 in or close to Lincang (Yongde). That's the only one I could find in Yunnan with a quick search (a couple others in Hunan). Will have to do a more through check later, the 2100m claim should help to narrow down the possibilities...

So if this is true, then single tree puer is just a marketing gimmick and I should not trust Hojo or anyone who sell single tree puer?
Do many people share this view or only a few?

I now feel like a fool for buying 2kg of his single tree teas.

I'd caution it is not unlikely per se that single tree teas are being made, just unlikely that it ends up in our baskets for anything less than an eye-watering price tag.

I haven’t purchased puerh from Hojo, but I do mostly drink pu erh tea. I would find it hard to believe produce single tree, marketing to the west, and having some profit. If it’s a friend who owns a garden, and they have a special tree that they process privately and sharing among friends then it sound reasonable. I think a single garden instead a single tree maybe more realistic. Just my take on it as a buyer/puerh drinker

This is pretty clear to me... your quote refers to how they select the individual trees in the first place. Still, without being very near the farms for most of the year, you can’t really be sure what you are getting.

Came back after 15 mins while it sat in a teapot. The leaves opened up much easier. Someone mentioned that leaving the leaves after the rinse opens them up better.

All this talk about danzhu had me dig out some teas for an experiment. Two danzhus & one typical multi-trees gushu. All 2019 Spring harvest. I don’t have the maocha version of the multi-trees, so will have to keep that in mind.

Honestly there’s not much difference between the two danzhus. Maybe one is more fragrant and has a slightly higher note. The pressed tea has a bit more astringency for sure

The color certainly reminded me of a finely crafted bourbon as well
