Hello all,

I have been gifted a pear shaped teapot, which I believe is some kind of yixing.

The lady that gave it to me,got it from a family member that deals in antiques.

Can anyone tell me something about it, what does the stamps/maker marks say?

Hi! This is a modern imitation of a late Qing teapot

No older than late 80s, more likely 90s onwards. This one’s clay doesn’t look very good, probably not even from Yixing.

I would say 90s or later, I am not really sure where it is from, it's pretty hard to tell. I would agree with @Bok that it does not look like typical Yixing clay.

More close up photos of the inside walls, filter hole, handle and under the lid with good lighting would be a good help to enable us to give you an educated guess at best.

I would say 90s or later, I am not really sure where it is from, it's pretty hard to tell. I would agree with Bok that it does not look like typical Yixing clay.

I have a hunch it's CZ clay.

That settles it! @OCTO was right, it’s an Chaozhou teapot, not Yixing.

I'm pretty sure that looks like a ChaoZhou Pot and not a Yixing Pot. Do you have another Yixing pot that you can compare to? CZ clay should be more porous and weight lighter than Yixing clay.

Lines from wheel-throwing, handle, filter-hole etc. The way all these look are pretty much 100% give-aways for CZ.

It is atleast alittle older then suggested, it was brought to Europe from an antiques dealer in Bandung Indonesia around 1980-81, the lady I got it from was not sure precisely when, but no later then 81

Memory is a fickle thing and dates can be misremembered easily.

In any case the workmanship does definitely not suggest it to be antique. Vintage at best.

Like many of you I love teapots. I have seen some unusual tea pots of late and wonder if anyone can share information on a particular style design. I would be interested to get an idea of age, origin and maker. Ultimately value of this please.
