I’d be very skeptical of a 60-70’s zhuni pots being legit. The requirements for making a zhuni pot are the antithesis of F1 standards.Bok wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 7:10 pmChadrinkincat I don’t remember either, have to go through it again. In any case I’ve seen a couple of 60 or 70s Zhuni(can’t recall) in real life at friends places. So they did definitely exist.
Mark-S that book is quite thick and full of pictures, well worth the money. Investing in knowledge might save you from more tuition fee pots...
Maybe your thinking of the tang po pot from late 50’s that was slip cast from very fine clay? I believe Kyrazen has mentioned that it looked similar to zhuni.

To be sure I just double-checked with some collector friends. There definitely were Zhuni from the 60-70s.

I have just bought a new teapot which looks similar to the one you are selling on eBay (except for the lid). What do you think? The teapot has a 7-hole filter. Unfortunately, I cannot show you pictures of the inside because it is VERY dirty. The teapot looks genuine to me, but I have not found a teapot with a similar lid knob yet. The size is about 660cc. The pour is good, but it drips from the lid.

Great! I was not sure because of the lid knob (it has no sharp edges) and the small price. May I ask why you are selling your teapot for comparatively little money? Is it because of the repaired lid knob and the chip?

I’m selling it because I have no use for it and it takes up space. Large size pots like these are not in high demand in the west and any damage will bring down the value for collectors. Also this pot is listed as an auction w/ min bid price to avoid a single $5 bid winning it.
Ok, thanks. Limited space is a problem for me too.
Anyone who knows if there is more than one version of these green label stickers? I have got many different looking stickers in my collection. I think the sticker on the left (on the picture with 3 stickers) is fake. But the other ones should be genuine imho.

The sticker in the middle is from the second teapot on the picture below. This pot is different from the others in many ways. It has another handle, a sloppy seal and the clay looks different. The lid has circular lines on the inside wall.
These pots on eBay have the same handle:
https://www.ebay.de/itm/352898122627
https://www.ebay.de/itm/163845411637
That's all I could find about this teapot.
Different period or fake?

I am attempting to buy directly from China, so can’t see/feel the teapot in person. I did ask to handpick for best clay quality, finish, fit, etc.
Supposedly the clay is 20+ year old Huang Long Shan zi ni. I am paying a hefty premium for this grade, as opposed to the more moderate clays available from the studio.
It's possible, but it's hard to say from a picture (it would be hard even in person to verify it). It looks decent. It doesn't look extraordinary.
As a price reference, you can compare it with the "custom order" pots that Essence of Tea sells/sold, or with the pots that Global Tea Hut offers. Honestly, if you pay more then $150, then you should really trust your source, or like the pot a lot. Otherwise, reselling value of generically looking pot from an unknown source might not be stellar.
