Imo the texture on the inside of the lid of Mark'S's pot is too fine to be neizi. Also considering the number stamp I'd say it's a early 80s batch of hongni, which had a slightly duller/browner color than the hongni from the 70s. The surface of the inside of the lid of the pot on your instagram looks more like mandarin peel, while Mark-S's looks more like fine sand.Chadrinkincat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 12:39 pmI could be wrong but this looks like a well done example of nzwh w/ light reddish clay inside. Grainy texture of lid rim doesn’t look like hongni to me.Mark-S wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 10:09 amBok
That's really Hongni? Maybe it is hard to see on the photo. I took a new one with my smartphone. Hopefully, it is good enough. The clay looks different, but there are no brush strokes or signs of dipping.
Yeah, this topic ist really confusing.Do you have an example for the "wrinkles from the shrinkages"? I have read this before, but I did not see it on any pots.

Similar look to this one.

I wonder if their zini pot may be cheaper based on more people going after antique zhuniChadrinkincat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 12:27 pmI inquired about a one of their smaller zhuni pots and to see if they had plans to restock and smaller pots from this era. Not sure what clay the other two pot are but all three are SGD4000 or roughly $3000 US. I suspect that $1000 zhuni pot that was talked about awhile back was either a fluke or an error in calculating the exchange rate.

You might be right on this pot since you know far more about the specifics of clay etc.
The point with my IG post is that not all nzwh pots have high contrast between inner and outer colors.
This interior clay on this nzwh pot is very similar to what I’m seeing on mark-s pot. https://m.facebook.com/teckcheng.khoo/p ... dp=1&mdf=1

Probably true about the zini pots. I’ll have to inquire about some of their zini pots when they update their selection. This is how high ticket yixing purchases happen though.
I vaguely remember the $1000 zhuni having a flea bite which might explain part of the drastic price difference between these other ones. while demand/quality for these specific pots accounts for rest.

Could well be, another Zhuni in 60ml I inquired a while back was around 2000$. But that is about the right price for antique Zhuni these days...Chadrinkincat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 12:27 pmI inquired about a one of their smaller zhuni pots and to see if they had plans to restock and smaller pots from this era. Not sure I could justify spending $2k on single pot and definitely not anywhere near $3k for a tiny 50-60ml that likely wouldn’t see much use.

That is what I thought as well, but it is good to know what the market realities are to manage expectations...Chadrinkincat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 7:26 pmNot sure I could justify spending $2k on single pot and definitely not anywhere near $3k for a tiny 50-60ml that likely wouldn’t see much use.
Since we are at the pricing topic, what’s a fair price for a ROC zini pot and Qing period zini pot?Bok wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 7:30 pmThat is what I thought as well, but it is good to know what the market realities are to manage expectations...Chadrinkincat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 7:26 pmNot sure I could justify spending $2k on single pot and definitely not anywhere near $3k for a tiny 50-60ml that likely wouldn’t see much use.

I'd say anywhere in between 700-1000+ depending on style and quality.DailyTX wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 8:09 pmSince we are at the pricing topic, what’s a fair price for a ROC zini pot and Qing period zini pot?Bok wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 7:30 pmThat is what I thought as well, but it is good to know what the market realities are to manage expectations...Chadrinkincat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 7:26 pmNot sure I could justify spending $2k on single pot and definitely not anywhere near $3k for a tiny 50-60ml that likely wouldn’t see much use.

I do not know about you, but I like these dragon style teapots.
This is a new (cheap) acquisition. I don't know the clay or age. The pot was used before, since there were still tea leaves in it. I hope it is safe to drink from it. It definitely needs a proper cleaning first.

Can you take pictures of the inside? Bottom of the pot, wall where handle is attached, and wall where decorations are attached?Mark-S wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 7:46 amI do not know about you, but I like these dragon style teapots. This is a new (cheap) acquisition. @Youzi
Of course, I hope the quality is good enough.
