Shuiliandong rougui tonight. One of the best yancha I've had, with strong yun and a nice qi, which I haven't found in most yancha I've had.

Thought I could still get something out of some Shui Xian I had left so I boiled it, but most of the flavour is gone. Funnily enough, though, there's a hint of what I can only describe as "barley coffee".
Having some Taiwanese Winter DongDing courtesy of a very kind buddy. Fragrant, lasting aftertaste and cools down a very hot afternoon.

More fabelous teas from Leafy Green, most from HY Chen:
Dong Ding Light Roast This was a sample wtih my order. Lovely soft orchid & jasmine notes over a buttery richness. I was not expecting the lovely richness nor buttery quality - fabelous.
Dong Ding Medium Roast I loved how this was a balance between tea and roast influences. Started off carmely honey sweetnest with a lovely charcoal bite on the tongue. Soon honey roasted squash and apricots over lovely charcoal notes followed by a lovely balancing astrigency. Later brews thecharcoal notes moved forward over a round soft palate of apricot honey and even a little aromatic wood. This was a tea that had perfect balance for me, between the tea and the roast. Excellent.
Rou Gui Lovely peach Autum wood notes...I wanted this tea to last forever. Despite my brewing it weak, this tea had such presence and sweetness balanced by lovely tannins. This tea was like...walking in scarlet Fall colored forest,while sipping perfumed peach tea, the aroma the rain soaked wood and leaves all around.
Laocong Shuixian This was fabelous. Apricot & yellow plums, parchment, soft sweet hay notes, pwerful perfumed tea notes and lovely tannins. This was a powerful tea, very rich and had a lot depth. I fell in love with this tea.
Bug Bitten Green Tea Michelle generously shared a sample of this special tea. Lovely sweet spring grass & hay (how you think it would taste based on the sweet smell) gentle orchid notes, crystalized honey. This tea has an intense minerality cobined with a lovely richness. I was blown away by this tea..and I normally don't care much for green tea...but this tea converted me. A really special tea made only when the conditions are just right...thank you Michelle, for sharing this with me.

Tillerman - I too,have tasted Norbu's Diamond Grade' Tie Guan Yin (Anxi) that Debunix mentioned. It is the antithesis of those horrible reedy thin nuclear green bitter TGYs that seem to abound these days...lovely sweet honeysuckle orchid notes..very rich and had surprising depth.
CWarren - Thank you for such lovely notes and pictures of the orange filled with roasted tie guan yin! I have wanted to try that sort of tea before...but have shied aaway, for fear of bitterness from the orange pith. Glad to hear that is not the case. Where did you get it from?

Norbu no longer carries any tea with that label, I presume because he hasn't been able to get his hands on that same quality of leaf. I am not sure if the last offerings were 2010 or 2011 with that title--but it is LONG gone.

Ha! Yes. Don't tell my boss. Someone accidentally ordered a hotplate without stirring capability. It sat in the lab unused for 3 years, because why would you ever heat something without stirring??
... So I found a good use for it

It doesn't heat quickly, but is probably good since I'm using this crappy Teavanna kettle.
Some lovely oolongs from Norbu.....I have loved every single tea from Norbu..never met one that was anything but stellar.
Dong Fang Mei Ren Summer - Lovely peach notes, perfumed oolong, balanced by lovely soft parchment note & delicate tannins. Like drinking perfumed tea in a peach orchard. This tea brews way above the price.
Mei Zhan 2007 - I had tasted this tea back when Greg first offered it new. It was very nice then....but it is incredible in its aged incarnation. Incredible aromatic wood. dried & fresh stone fruits, honey, soft astrignency on finish. Really nice aged tea. This was one of my favorite teas of 2018
Linkou Lao Cha 1980s Taiwann Aged Tea - Fabelous woodsy roast notes, distinct tea note (Greg's description are spot on), plums, semi sweet fortune cookie. The intensity and depth of this tea is incredible. Incredible clean tasting yet the depth and flavor let you know this is an aged tea in the best sense. Another favorite tea of 2018.,maybe i just love well aged, well made teas!

Oh boy! This is so good. So sweet and fruity, complex and thick, soysauce in the later, longer steeps. Steeped almost a dozen times.

Nice looking leaves.
I just broke into my last tin of the 2016 TeaChat FouShouShan special buy, and the tea has kept wonderfully in its vacuum sealed container. So lovely enjoyed grandpa style in the Flower of Forgetfulness.

Did you keep it in a refrigerator or freezer since you received the FSS?
That reminds me I’d better get back to my 2018 FuShouShan before it degrades.
This am sipping on @Tillerman’s very fresh 2018 winter LiShan. This is Very good LiShan, at its best, buttery rich sweet viscous liquor that leaves a lingering aftertaste, and induces salivation. Recently, I was in a few conversations about astringency in tea and how it dries the mouth (others not enjoying this), this LiShan is the antithesis, promoting active secretion from salivary glands. Wonder what properties of the tea encourage this?
