With some pots I have noticed that they get very slippery/soapy/slimy in the water. For some reason, this does not happen with all pots. What could be the cause of that? Tea oil? Additives? ...?

Just a quick follow up on my 3 friends pot. I took two more pictures from a better angle with my smartphone. The pictures are still not good but a bit closer to reality in comparison to the old ones.
I also got the time to post two more Chinese tea boats (porcelain plates) in the porcelain thread. Maybe they are from Qing Dynasty... but that's just a guess. If you are interested you can take a look at them here: viewtopic.php?p=23221#p23221

The bark on this pot doesn’t look as bad as it did on the original photos you posted. Looks like a good pot for liubao or shu.

Oh, that would be cool.
You now know why I have to improve my photography skills. I have bought a 30mm macro lens today for M4/3 cameras, and I will try to get better lighting / colors for future pictures.

I took the bad pictures with the help of a light box. Unfortunately, all items look pretty lifeless in there. I will change the white balance next time and, maybe, I will also use a wider aperture. If you got any other advice for me...

Teapot photography is divided into 2 school of thoughts... to catalogue your collection or for artistic illustration. Both uses different lighting setup. To catalogue it use a wine wooden carton and 6 LED table lamps... not the best but works for me. I use my iPhone as camera.

Looks plausible. The base seal is called "Jingxi Nan MengChen zhi", used up till the 60's. Might be quite collectible.

The same chop was used again in the 80s and onwards... but looking at the semi ideal images, I’m cautiously optimistic for 60s.
In any case I’d give it a thorough deep clean, the interior looks nasty... wouldn’t make tea in it like that, even if the gunk is part of the heritage
