I'm not currently on Instagram. Do they have a website or email address?
I am not aware of any. Probably WeChat. No website thus far.
Is this the same Zoe?

If so, there's an email link on that website (although no products, so it might not be active).

Yeah that’s her.

Thank you! Bok, have you had many of her teas? In terms of price, how do they compare to Tea Habitat or Hojo?

I can’t say. I’ve never had Hojo or Teahabitat, only teas from Zoey via common friends - but it seems to me those are not the same grades that are for sale for the Western market.

Simple logic would dictate though that her teas should be relatively lower priced for the same quality as the other two. Shipping is directly from the source not via US or Japan with own added cost for packaging and import/export fees etc.

Thank you! It might be worth emailing her to see what she has available. Have you had anything you've particularly liked?

^ As I said, I have only had her teas via friends and not stuff that is on offer, so I can’t say. Just try and you’ll see for yourself.

Okay, I just emailed her. I'd like to have some decent Dancong after a lackluster experience with a supposedly good vendor.

@GaoShan just bare in mind, same as for Yancha, price is intricately linked to quality. The good stuff is on average a lot pricier than comparable Taiwan oolongs.

@Bok, I sometimes think I lucked out by choosing Taiwanese oolongs, which, though they can be expensive, are nothing like good unsmoked Lapsang or Dancong in terms of price. If you want good Chinese teas, you need to be aware of the sticker shock. I hope I can afford a bit of what this Dancong vendor is selling.

Some Dancong vendors (White2Tea, Bitterleaf, Wuyi Origin) have Dancongs below $1 per gram, and that's sort of what I'm looking for. Stuff that is still good, but that won't break the bank. Maybe this is just a pipe dream...

Some people on Discord have ordered from her, she has a range of teas at different price points. The reception seemed to be a bit mixed on some teas but not negative overall. I saw @Youzi got some. Kyarazen sometimes sells her teas on his webshop, I feel like he has pretty decent taste in tea so I take that as a positive endorsement

Another vendor to possibly look at Tea Hong, some people seem to really like his teas, I haven't tried any yet but I'll probably order some around Christmas

I'd take anything tea related that KZ says/recommends with a grain of salt. Too much ego in that one. Some teas he has recommended in the past were junky.

I went with the easiest option and ordered more Dancongs from Wuyi Origin during their Black Friday sale. I've had good luck with Cindy's teas in the past and wanted to buy some lapsang from her anyway.

I'll email Zoe at some point to see if she takes PayPal, or I might try to buy her teas from Kyarazen. I've also looked at Tea Hong but have never bought from them. Their Dancong selection looks good, but it's hard to understand the quality based on the marketing copy.

I'm also trying not to make any big tea purchases until Dragonwell and Bi Luo Chun season. :)

I see a Ya Shi Xiang tasting set from Zoe.

Well as they say, to each their own. Tastes vary for sure. I’ve had the most positive experience with teas I’ve had via Kyarazen’s recommendations, as well as the ones he now sells. Our tastes align very well, and I am very grateful for that. Hau Ying Chen’s oolongs, whom he introduced many of us to some time ago, are a serious staple of mine now for many years, and his very reasonably priced Wuyi Yancha fleet that he now sells is excellent as well. I am grateful 🍃 none are DanCong though… being the topic of thread.
