I wouldn’t use it. If someone goes to the trouble to fake a pot, they certainly won’t care about the quality or origin of the clay.

Here you go, trying my best with the photocamera of my phone. Pictures taken with no flash, just the lightning bulb on the ceiling.

That line inside the pot at the position of the handle makes it seem fully hand made

Possibly the angle, the inner seam looks superficial and it tapers before hitting the top. Looking at the base, I don’t think it’s old...As for wax, it should be on the outside, and it will melt with boiling water.

So if inner seam is faked, then this is possibly slip cast since no obvious tool marks?

Also that example of the old pot also looks very iron rich

Can be, or half-handmade. in any case mass produced.

Look closer, the old pot's clay is quite different

The seam actually bends to the left, but it reaches up to the wall/neck of the teapot, it is about 1-2 mm in depth i think.
Does it exists any tipe of tea that would benefit from that much iron in a teapot ?

Don’t discount YanCha too....

Most of my small sized ZiNi are pretty much dedicated to YanCha and Aged DanCong.... don’t worry abt the pot being too big, it’s a bonus!!
