Yixing
Here we go with the second gallery,
This time i have added 2 shuipings made in F1. One is made of black clay sparkled with duanni, sparkles of duanni have a smeared effect, about 120 ml, assigned to shen pu-er.
The other is made of dark qing shui ni, looks very similar to dcq, but the golden sand particles looks finer, about 100 ml, using it for medium roast yancha.
Any ideas about the age and clay quality of the JLZ and the Si ting?
@Pedant Thanks for the link! Will try to soak the pots in vinegar and water, to remove the limescale.

Not so sure if any of these is F1, looks more like post-factory to me. The lighting is quite off, so a bit difficult to say much about the clay quality. From the shine of them, all seem to be of modern make.Bac wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 7:24 pmThis time i have added 2 shuipings made in F1. I just noticed this shiny fragment on my lid, almost like a piece of coating. Has anyone seen this on their yixing?

Trying to improve my skill as photographer :
First two pics are a bit washed out, other pictures are a closer match to reality.
Si ting might indeed be some type of mixed clay, it has greenish yellow dots on its skin and inside the wall of the pot.
@LeoFox
I am on the same boat as you, and have yet to find a metric. Something I noticed is weight of the pot in comparison to how much liquid it can hold can give you a rough comparison if you have 2 pots in front of you. This idea has a lot of flaws due to weight can be distributed on the handle, design, decoration, bottom wall, etc. This was a funny idea came to my mind while I was having dim sum with family and they were talking about the skin of dumplings
So you are suggesting the spot is an area with less tea staining? Interesting. To me, it looks like some kind of coating.
You may be right! I am mainly concerned about whether this is residual from some chemical coating that was applied.
Thats an interesting idea!DailyTX wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 1:32 pmLeoFox
