Will join you for some later this evening....

Currently having a pre-lunch shou puerh. Gift from my Neighbour. Nothing over the top... but it’s a nice daily drinker.

Oh gosh, excellent looking cake. The one I got my hands on is sad and decrepit in comparison...

@TeaTotaling

My example of the 2000 Red is dry and astringent with a deep yellow / orange broth that is both sour and harsh with bitterness rounding it of... A clear case of arrested development due to overtly dry storage or some sort of mid aging calamity... The fact that it came wrapped in plastic raised alarm bells but one perseveres and sometimes it's just plainly a bad scenario...

Friends I've shown this to and shared a some with say it's salvageable so the strategy now is to air out a quarter of the cake to see how it performs over a month while the rest gets a new jacket and goes back to sleep in a dark slightly humid corner of the cupboard...

Sounds like a good plan! I hope it works out for the best, in the end.

I find the Taiwanese storage of the cake I have to be very clean. It brews up incredibly smooth, almost too smooth for my tastes. I tend to like a little more punchiness. Unfortunately, the Ohio climate, especially the colder months, tend to cause a slight storage crisis as well.

Good times, bad times, you know I had my share 🎸

Do any of you steep your tea through out the day? I hear about people leaving their leaves in their gaiwan and just have tea throughout the day. I'm curious!

I do it quite often..... just steep the leaves in the pot and keep adding hot water.

I like this idea because I can never do a lot of steeping at once to test tea properly. Btw, as you are aware. I am stalking you err.. your teaware. :D

@klepto almost every batch of leaves from a session ends up in a large cup steeping in hot water ...

Like I'm steeping up last night's 2000 Blue Mark now after drinking around 20 brews of the stuff ...

I was thinking of cold brewing some of the teas with some tasty characteristics that don't last in gong fu might be more present in cold brewing.

@klepto I will not think cold brewing PE would be a good idea... My soul just kinda shivered when I read what you wrote...

In the meantime, I'm wondering which PE to drink tonight, TGIF!!

Blue Mark 2000?... 90s 7542?... 90s 7581?...
