I see, you got some patch work. Maybe just me, I think having a polished knob like those Thailand pots would look cool
8-) Commit and it can be done, haha

Thought I was finished, but not 100% happy with the silver, will add another layer to even out the shine more...

Here’s some preview pics:

Quick interest check: I got a couple of large Qing blue and white porcelain cups where I am thinking to part with a few... I'd say easily 90-100ml usable volume, so a good one pot, one cup affair. I will measure later and take a few snaps of the ones I am willing to part with.

Also got another Kintsugi pot in the works, this one in a rather special clay – Qinghuini, grey clay, 100ml, Qing/ROC period.

I'm curious, how do you plan to handle the spout's lip, @Bok? To an alien in teapot repair, it seems like any patch without further destructive prep work is going to be doomed in the long run. And to state the obvious - a charming piece indeed!

Kintsugi is slow, but it is quite solid, whole missing section can be reconstructed with ease and time. The way it is broken off is not too tricky to repair, I've already started the first steps. You have to imagine there are many layers of sticky lacquer in various alterations that in the sum are pretty hard to destroy afterwards.

Also, we are all doomed in the long run

Not only that, the clay is a marvel to look at, grey clay is one of my favourites, it is subtle and humble but has a lot of depth.

Got another antique coming up: Qing/ROC Duanni clay heart sutra Julunzhu. Pictures coming once I finished cleaning it, volume tbc but looks like standard JLZ 90-100ml size.
Not gonna be cheap, old Duanni is hard to come by these days…
Gone with the wind...

But new and more affordable thing on the horizon 8-)

This pot is on the finish line! Only step left is applying the gold. If things go smoothly it’s ready in a week or so.

Red clay from the 70s is also in the works :)

Lovely work--I continue to be amazed at how you can restore these pots back to beautiful (and functional!) life

Thanks, appreciated! It’s a lot of fun and for me these little ugly ducklings have their extra charm. A life well lived... leaves its traces.

As often in collectors circles, most nice pots never end up being offered publicly... although this pot is already spoken for, I’ll still post the results for those who were curious:

little preview of the next item up for a new owner soon, F1 classic 70s Roubian, 75ml, in perfect condition.
Still cleaning off some persistent lime scale, before I take some more images...
