Yixing advice

I got it last week and I really like everything else with it. Its just that i have been using a modern Zhuni quite heavily for about 8 months and that pot really accentuates the teas. I drink semi aged raw puerh out of these. The new one is a modern one out of Dicaoqing clay.

Are you still brewing semi aged sheng using the same DCQ pot? If yes, you might be experiencing a mismatched tea&pot. When comparing with ZhuNi, the DCQ will be a mile apart. ZhuNi is known to accentuate almost every aspect of your tea, especially the upper notes. You should get better results with LiuBao-DCQ , YanCha-DCQ & aged ShouPuerh-DCQ combo compared to Sheng Puerh.

Hi @faj, I rather not since the this review is not all positive regarding the Dicaoqing clay pot. I am very pleased with the Zhuni pot and I purchased that at pu-erh.sk like 8 months ago. It doesn't have to be anything wrong with the DCQ pot I have only used it for a few days and I will continue to use it for a while and then evaluate it against the Zhuni.

I have a zini pot that mutes a bit to much for my taste. it is very new though, will this muting change over time with use or will it always steal flavor?

It could mute a bit less with use. How long have you been using it? Do you have a picture? What tea do you use it for?

Generally I would avoid using DCQ for Sheng Puerh, with the exception of aged DCQ, which is more commonly sold as Vintage ZiNi as the colour of the clay after firing resembles Vintage ZiNi more than Modern DCQ.

Agreed. Other than that, can’t really say much, white label is not my thing.

I have been working on pairing my DCQ recently. It’s 25 year aged clay. I’m finding it works well with Aged Sheng, > 5 years. Is this what you have found in your experience?

I've found they work well with Sheng Puerh that are above 15 years. Most of the Sheng Puerh I drink are 20+ years. I have since made some changes and this pot is now dedicated to aged YanCha.

Personally, I've found DCQ to be a tricky clay to pair as their characteristics change when fired at different temperature.

Figures! The struggle continues. Of course it’s tricky, can’t be easy
