It's interesting that you think this $550-$750 pot is not worth anything. Especially, since Chadrinkincat said that "the person that put in winning bid is very knowledgeable about antique pots." Maybe it's because you are not from the West?
Wasn’t that in connection with that teapot set and two cups?

But it’s true the demands of Asian collectors in regards to perfection of item are much higher in Asia. But people are also willing to pay the price for it...

@OCTO

@Chadrinkincat

I don't think it is, but I have not opened the package yet and it's hard to see on the photos. Hopefully, I have enough time tomorrow. That's a photo of the lid.

TeaTotaling I do indeed use Duanni, for Gaoshan. I wish I had more of them, but antique Duanni is hard to come by in acceptable quality...
Excellent, thank you for the insight!

This 80’s Duan Niyi, as it’s labeled, seems quite nice. Not exactly antique per se, but a good option I was considering.

This antique Zini really caught my eye as well! In current discussion, and hot pursuit, of this beauty. I personally love the middle ground qualities of Zini, as compared to other clays.

Some exquisite taste you got there... be prepared to empty your account :) Gong ju is a lovely style of pot, been searching for one that is affordable for a looooong time.

Be aware though that antique Duanni has little in common with the contemporary one.

Understood. I have been saving for a quality investment, and I believe I have found it. You are right, Gong Ju is a beautiful style, very refined.

How would you describe the affects of antique Duanni? I have no experience with either. I have been more hesitant to go for contemporary Duanni.

As always, thank you for your honest insight.

I'm sure you know this, but take note that its 150ml, which is a bit big for me personally. That pot caught my eye too, but at that size It would mostly just collect dust.

Thanks! I haven’t committed to this one just yet. I have another red pot I might choose over this one. It is certainly very nice though. I would be curious to hear how@Chadrinkincat likes it!

@Teachronicles

No idea. All my pots are shy of sunlight... hahahaha.... I would be more attentive to the drying effect the sun has on my pots rather than discolouration. If the pot is too dry, it will crack very easily when it comes in contact with hot water.

Cheers!
