60s 12 cup hongni is on my list. I haven’t encountered a source to get the 12 cups yet but yeah it will cost a leg :(
Are you prepared to spend in the neighborhood of $1-2k? Because that's the price range...
And at that pt, lqer zhuni is not far off, but of course, to each their own.

Exactly. Those pots are sought after by collectors who want to have a more complete collection of early factory pieces... one needs to be aware of that. There is a reason you don't find them on offer.

However, it's also true that finding a lqer zhuni around 160ml won't be very easy :D

for that price, I'd prefer the Zhuni from above any day! That is where Yixing market sometimes defies common sense...
+1 on the prefer zhuni

The rear handle jiazini gezuis from the early 60s are very beautiful, the design is by Gu Jingzhou and the spout shape is very elegant.
I saw you mentioned this clay a few times. Do you mean 甲紫泥 or 紫茄泥 ? (And how do they differ by the way).

I've also been confused about the mentions of different types of rare zini in the early factory period. @steanze if it's not too much work, you don't have any pictures to show the difference between jiazini and regular zini, and maybe qsn.

What kind of new designs are you thinking about? If you look at OCTO's teapot from another thread, that's quite contemporary :D
Pretty much anything that's not the traditional shui ping, shi piao, xi shi and the like--I'm not looking for a particular design (anymore) so much an interesting new takes on the classics, or just unique new shapes period. And I will admit there's a lot of wild and crazy stuff out there on Ebay, Taobao and the like; the problem becomes that there's no good way to tell if such pots were crafted well (in that they are comfortable to handle, have a clean pour, and retain the right amount of heat) or whether the clay has been adulterated. Short of buying them and taking my chances, anyway. That's why I was wondering if anyone had any studio recommendations.
I am in a similar boat as you, at least for now. The old yixing pot market is too overwhelming so I rather support young artisans making interesting work (personally I go for more minimal contemporary, for example I found this and maybe it’s something of interesting for you too: https://txs-tea.com/collections/teapots ... xing-zisha). Perhaps we can keep each other updated with any of our finds?
I would definitely be up for that! Txs-tea does have some nice pots, though they seem to mostly carry the classic shapes. Which I can understand--they have to carry what sells. Still, it'd be nice to see something unusual pop up every now and then.

@hopeofdawn What kind of unusual are you looking for so I can keep one antenna tuned to it?

Probably after the 70s, more like 80s or 90s would be my guess.

茄紫泥 . I've seen 甲紫泥 used in a somewhat confusing way, sometimes it's used to refer to heixing tu.

I posted a picture comparing jiazini and qsn on page 124 of this thread ;)

Is the 12 cup a rare size?

I think I’d pass on paying $2k for an F1 pot too.

Speaking of paying way too much for F1. $980 for 80’s 😳
