So I've been meaning to ask you: from all these, which pots did it for you? (Hope the one(s) you came in with).

I went home with more than one pot that night... hahahaha...
Of course! And which of them all turned out to be your favorite shou pot? ;)

I was more lucky with my first Yixing... guess it has to do with being a bystander in terms of Yixing for the longest time, before getting my toes wet - although all down-hill from there onwards :)

An F1 Neiwailinjiang from the 80s.

I think I know which one you mean. I believe I saw it here but on a different thread photographed on its own. Huge tail, yes? (Center, back in that group photo?)

@OCTO

What's the reason for that design? Could never understand....

Ergonomics? That's the only thing I can think of.

@OCTO @Youzi
Maybe it's neither ergonomics nor practicality.... Just contemporary artistry.

If I was collecting pots (or had the money for it :lol: ) I'd be into these kinds of designs.

I hate that design, just seems so unproportionate... Maybe too contemporary for me :lol:

I find @OCTO's squirrel pot hilarious. In my mind, the artisan was chuckling and giggling while shaping it. I am not sure I would buy it, but I'm glad it exists. I want to give it a walnut tea pet.

Maybe the whole point is to be uncomfortable... Challenges the idea that "correct" proportions are important.

And @Bok, if it wasn't @OCTO posting these pics, what would you have to say about the clay? (Va, la neta ;) 8-) )

this is the answer... checkout He Daohong (何道洪). He is the master who introduced these "hypertrophic" components, very elegantly done in his work...

Seems like the inventor is much more "restrained". That pot that octo posted has gone a little overboard :)

Daohong's style is not for me either, but apparently it's very difficult to get it right. Something about the perfect geometry of all components, etc.

I think it’s the kind of teapot Mickey Mouse would have he were into tea :)

I call it Disney pot :)

But it is very challenging to slab build it in the way he did. So artisanship is excellent, no doubt!
