Metallic violet sounds like wood fired to me. That can almost look like a coating, although it is the result of the ash and fire. But you will know more after a good bath in sodium Percarbonate. Don’t be shy to scratch and brush it afterwards when still hot to see if something comes off! It could well be a one off piece that somehow had been exposed to the fire. In the best case it’s vintage off spec, if not a modern day Yixing. Now you see those wood fired Yixing from time to time on taobao.

~95 ml modern zhuni pot from Chawang Shop. I use this pot for aged sheng. The clay has very subtle wrinkles-- almost more of a shimmer-- that I find very difficult to take pictures of. The light this morning just happened to work to get them to show up in a photograph.

Looks nice, I was planning to get one but ended getting a different modern zhuni pot from Chawangshop which it has a canon sprout.

Looks like a very well made pot. Comparing the price to a 60s hongni which the bigger the pot the more expensive, $1000 for a ROC hongni sounds like a decent price. With limited knowledge on antique pots, maybe people with more experience can chime in on authenticity

I am not sure it's ROC. I could be wrong.
If it is a replica, it is a pretty clever one. I wouldn't be surprised if the seller himself/herself genuinely thinks this is authentic.

The base/seal is pretty similar to seals used in ROC. It is possible that it is a legitimate ROC pot and it has some features that are uncommon for ROC. Also keep in mind that it is hard to judge teapots from pictures. If someone with experience can take a look at it in person, I would consider that evaluation far more reliable.

And in this case seeing it won’t change much either, as you need to know what you’re looking at

It all boils down to how well one knows and trusts the person selling.

@DailyTX stellar reputation for antiques, western accessible? Only Zisha Art gallery comes to mind. But no ROC hongni in perfect condition incl shipping to be found there for that price
