The perks of hunting for one’s collection is that sometimes crumbles fall off for someone else...
I got this pot for a while, yet it hasn’t seen enough use and I decided it not being essential for my collection goals.
It is a 80ml Julunzhu, although it looks much smaller than its volume might suggest. As with all pots of this kind and age, the lid is not tight fitting, yet it does not have a bad pour. Caveat: JLZ in this style is not an easy pot to handle to begin with, this design needs some practice!
The clay is, again, as many antique pots, not a 100% clear cut affair. I’ve asked a couple of experts, none said with certainty what it is. A typical period Zisha/Zini blend of sorts, this one with some grainier bits in it.
Period is likely to the best of my knowledge and of others I have consulted, Late Qing/Roc transition period. Probably more likely Roc proper.
The alignment of the spout is not a perfect “shui ping”, but when using it, I did not find it an issue, even when filling the pot to the brim. It performs favourably with roasted oolong(haven’t tested much other teas).
Volume: 80ml
Clay: Zisha/Zini
Condition: marks of usage and artisan tools as to be expected for an antique. Small chip on the lid inside.
I have cleaned it and it is ready to use, only made tea with it a couple of times.
Price:
780$ including EMS shipping
PayPal payment only
This is a good price for a hard to get item, it won’t see any price adjustments...

As often for Julunzhu, no seal chop on the bottom

I was surprised as well, when I measured it, it really looks smaller that it is.Chadrinkincat wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2019 7:11 pmBeautiful pot!!!!!
