I'm wondering if it would be possible to add a save draft option when creating a post. That maybe gets triggered when your going to refresh the page or accidentally do so. It's happened a bunch of times where I write out a long post and then accidentally hit back on my phone or something else happens and my whole post is gone. Sometimes Ill rewrite it but more often than not I won't. Idk if this could be done, but I would greatly appreciate it.

There is a save draft option below the posting area to the left.

server maintenance!

i'm staging some updates in a test server right now, and if all goes well, then i'll do the upgrades on the real site tonight.
this means that the site might be down for an hour or so sometime in the next few hours june 4 2019. i'll try to do the updates as fast as possible.

I think Ive already mentioned that somewhere before, but I believe here is the right thread to write it.
Since steepster is dying ( actually dead for me already ) , would be useful to create tasting DB here as well? There are some talks about it in steepster among the survivals there recently. I personally believe this would be a right time.
As a bonus would be , if connected with vendor's list ( if you create one )
I'd also suggest to find way how to infiltrate in FB . If you don't have an account, create one and link up there "activity" page somehow.

is the site in danger of shutting down, or do you just mean their community is falling apart?
i'm aware of the sad state of their discussion/forum area, but personally, i never felt that was the core of steepster.
steepster is for ratings/reviews, and the discussion area was pretty much an afterthought. imho!

is the rating system falling apart, too?

fwiw, i feel that steepster did the tea ratings thing pretty well. i wouldn't dream of trying to compete with that, but i'd consider it if they were truly dying, and people needed something to fill that void. then again, there is at least one other competitor: https://ratetea.com/ which is also very nicely made.

that's an interesting idea. were you thinking like something that automatically posts excerpts of new activity happening on here to a TeaForum.org FB wall? maybe with links to the posts they came from? i wonder if that would actually entice FB users though.
i do have a FB page for TF, but i haven't done anything with it because i'm personally not interested in manually maintaining it and adding content there.

I don't think the creation of your very own tea tasting DB is a competition to anybody. The steepster comunity is falling apart due to the spam problem and no interest from the owner to do anything about that. Not even bothering to spend 15$ for captcha module. That will tell you something. I left steepster couple months ago and know people who done the same year ago, for the same reasons.

I can speak only for my self what would be interesting and engaging for me. Tea tea tating DB is good thing and since steepster is messed up, it's a right time to make a new one ( I believe some users will copy-paste their tasting notes from steepster to here eventually , because afraid to loosing them due to fear of steepster will shut down one day ) . I would see very useful that tea testing DB linked with friendly searchable tea vendor list ( sorry for repeating it ;-)

I haven't found TF Fbook profile by typing "teaforum" or teaforum org" into search box of my FB , maybe my mistake somewhere, will try again later.

Yes, I mean the activity page ( the one which opens when I click on activity button ) being linked with your FB and if anything comes up new ( thread or new comment to the existing thread ) , it would automatically pop-out on your FB wall. I believe there is some php script supporting that. If not, there are bunch of freelancers who can do it for you for 30$ ? or something ? ( there are many dedicated pages to that , i thing something like "People in Hour " or something like that ) . I don't know on which temple your forum is based on , but some like WP for example already have made plugins which accommodate various functions and I believe there would be one "share on FB" .

I look at my FB few times per day and to see teaforum I need to open the browser first and wait for slow loading ( Im in China , so don't mind it ) . But actually many people open the browser on phone not often. Many sites are outsourced to the user friendly apps these days. Getting an app is not cheap ( although could be a future for you as well one day ) , so I think FB "streaming" is the cheapest and functional option for the moment.
If I like some thread on your FB wall and want to read it more or react, I don't mind that it will open the browser ( automatically ) that stage in order to see it.

i modified the extension we use to generate mentions. mentions are now clickable links to user profiles.

unfortunately, mentions made before now will be broken links. it only works correctly for new ones going forward.

i might eventually make something to fix all the previous mentions.

when viewing a user's profile, there's now a link to view topics they started (sorted by recent activity).

more improvements!

previously, when quoting a post with images, the images therein would be reproduced (as thumbnails) only if they were in an [img] tag.
unfortunately, images uploaded directly to teaforum as attachments were not reproduced when quoted.
now they are! but only for new quotes going forward.

One of my Favorite Yixing teapots.

I wanted to use it for Shu, but it made Chocolatey Red tea so much better, that I didn't have another choice :D

I bought it as a set of 1 Pot 2 Cups, and kept one cup unused to compare the patina and clay development of the teapot.

What do you guys think?

also, metadata has been added, including Open Graph, Twitter Cards, and JSON-LD.
this means that when you share links on various services like facebook, twitter, discord, slack, et al., they will appear as more than just links.
they appear as rich 'cards' with titles, text snippets, and an image.

example from discord:

example from fb's "sharing debugger" tool:
