Did you guys ever consider a recent/new posts section? Maybe on the home page? I don't mind going through each category but I think a new/recent post section would a good addition.

look in 'quick links' in the upper left ;)

One thing which I found useful before is that topics one replies to are automatically subscribed to. Now I need to go through all the recent posts to see if there are new replies, unless I am quoted.

I assume everyone would be interested in topics they replied to by default, no?

Yeah, I was subscribing to certain topics thinking the same thing Bok, and had too many notifications so turned them off.

Is there any way to tag a user in a post? Similar to /u/ on reddit?

You can just quote them, like this. That causes a notification to appear for them.

Ok, I knew about quoting but didn't know it sent them a notification. Thank you.

I suppose the options are here:

User Control Panel > Board preferences > Edit notification options

I'm not really able to edit the options though.

I selected "Mark all" and clicked Submit, and now I do not get any notifications, not even to the posts I subscribed (which I used to get notified of earlier).

i was hoping no one would try doing that...
i guess just wait until i fix it. if you don't want to wait, you might be able to switch to the (ugly) 'prosilver' theme and then change your notification settings that way for now. i think it's a bug in the theme.

Yes, changing to the prosilver theme, updating the notification settings, and then reverting back to the regular theme works.
