Staple repair tutorials?

After my first dips into Kintsugi and relative success with it, I was getting curious about the other common repair method: staple repair.
I was trying to find a good tutorial that shows how it works, but so far I could only find examples of the results and descriptions which lacked information to be useful enough. The closest is a video of an old man repairing a large vessel, but I think it might not be directly transferable to small and delicate objects... http://www.lakesidepottery.com/Pages/Po ... ethod.html
Another thing and an essential one – where to actually get these kind of staples?
I suspect the whole thing is probably easier than it might seem, drill some holes and put the staples in. The challenge will be to slowly drill with the right tool and some experience as to where to set the holes without compromising the integrity and cause more breaks. In theory. I guess I could contact some of the people who perform this kind of repairs, but they might be reluctant to share specifics in order not to compromise their business model... at least it seems that way for the Kintsugi guys, which are often the same.
Anyone has any input?
