Interior crack inside yixing lid

Hi, I recently got this pot and noticed this crack running through the lid after using it a few times. I don't think it was there to begin with. What can I do to prevent this happening any more and should I stop using it?

i think your options may be to either roll the dice and keep using it or use it as a decoration only.

i'd just keep using it for tea.

I would also keep using it. Just warm the pot before each use to prevent thermal shock.

This looks like a faulty pot, crack like this should not just happen, even with negligent pot pre-heating... if it's new, I'd contact the vendor.

Ahh thanks for the advice, honestly I was just going to keep using it anyways! Unfortunately I bought it at a shop on holiday in Hong Kong and I don't have any real way to contact them anymore. I'm guessing I shouldn't preheat with boiling water then

I wouldn't worry too much. One of my pots has a similar crack - late 1970s/early 80s green label zini. Been using boiling water without too much care

The crack in his pot is more severe and extensive. I think it is likely to separate whereas yours is likely to remain the same.

Hopefully OP did not spend too much on this defective modern teapot.
