Okay, whew I completed the order. Just got off the phone with them in Kyoto, in English, because of mix up with Visa ( @Shine Magical ).

60.59 USD (6,000 + 500 shipping JPN ) each 50 gram canister with EMS shipping from Japan to California. Due to limited availability, each participant will only get one (1) 50 gram canister.

Please PM me - ‘Ippodo Group Buy’ with your address - and I will reply with my Paypal info.

Shipping charges from California to your address will be handled separately. Rates might vary depending on where you are.

Hello Victoria -

I may be late to the offer but if any of the Ippodo Gyokuro is left I would be interested.

Thank you!

Yes, I think you may be in luck! When Ippodo order arrives I will let you know. Also, one member who expressed interest hasn’t replied to my pm yet.

Ippodo shipped our order today EMS.

Something to think about; some of you may need to consider steeping vessels for gyokuro before your orders arrive. Since we have a week I thought I’d share this now so you can get organized before hand. The best vessel to steep in is a shiboridashi, houhin or kyusu. Generally more horizontal than vertical vessel is better, this allows the small amount of water:leaf to reach evenly each needle, like dew drops. A higher ratio of leaf:water ratio is common with gyokuro, with Ippodo typically 10 grams leaf: 80ml water.

-A scale and thermometer are also very useful for steeping premium gyokuro. This is especially important for members who don’t often steep these specialty Japanese teas, they are very temperature sensitive. Most variable temp kettles only go down to 140F/60C so I use a thermometer for gyokuro which is steeped at lower temperatures than this.

Here is a good example shared by @pedant earlier using a Hokujo shiboridashi with Ippodo's Tokusen Gyokuro

Great info. I haven't bought any since I got into drinking sheng and using a scale. Always eyeballed it. For premium grade, limited access tea like this I'll want to make sure I get the most out of each session.

ps @Victoria can we combine shipping on my orders? Thanks

Yes, I’d like to combine shipping if possible. Should work out well.

p.s. I’ll add, a scale and thermometer are very useful for premium gyokuro, especially for members who don’t often steep these specialty Japanese teas that are very temperature sensitive.
