These are interesting to me, as they seem to be expensive designer gift-pumidors from the UK, which I would not have thought there was a market for... maybe for the Hong Kong businessman working in Canada?

The website itself is fairly quiet about their origins, other than having some connection to one of the owners of La Maison des Trois Thés, a somewhat famous French teahouse. Does anyone know anything about them?

$12,000 is quite a bit of money.

Actually it's more like $17 000
But as Mme. Tseng says:

"...the Tea Humidor liberates tea from pantries and kitchens, where it is typically stored and prepared - allowing it to ascend to the privileged places we reserve in our lives..."

Luckily there is still some tea out there that have neither been liberated from the mundane working class places nor have yet ascended to the places of privilege.
