Bad idea to leave boveda packs sitting on tea leaves?

Just in case it's a bad idea, thought I would ask. Other than crushing some leaves, any other possible negative effects?

The packs are supposed to be fully food safe (including the thickening agent and the exterior paper), so the only real risk I see is that you somehow manage to get a hole in the pack (without noticing) and have the contents leaking out, spoiling your tea. I wouldn't worry about it.

That being said, I usually keep a thin layer of plastic between my cakes/bricks (I don't have any loose leaf tea stored in a controlled humidity environment) and the Boveda packs. It's more of a "why not" than anything else.

I agree that there should be no issue.

People leave them directly on cigars all the time causing no problems.
