Unique opportunity to own a piece of history at a decent price, all things considered. The lid requires repair which I have been quoted $210-$230 by Nissan Haque. The pot did not suffer any trauma and is in the same condition as I received it from Zisha Art Gallery.

This Zhuni bears the ChangJi 昌記 seal. Functional volume is right around 100ml. The lid is ferromagnetic to the core and the pot has similar properties as evidenced by the internal black markings.

Purchased for $3k, asking $1.5k. I do not need to sell this pot but it might serve someone else much better than I as it has been out of commission for over a year.

What a beauty!
May I ask how it happened (the break)?

Of course!

I was holding the pot, admiring it in the sunlight from all angles, and the lid slid out  Silly of me not to secure the lid, at least. Clumsy mistake on my part.

This Zhuni is why the above gets no use…

i'm sorry that happened to you. :(

still an awesome and perfectly usable pot though once it's fixed. i also like that you're offering it in this condition. imo it's better to let the new owner decide where/how to fix it.

could i please see a pic of the broken part of the lid (the broken cross section) under decent illumination?

That's a beautiful pot! I winced when reading about the break, as it's something I can see myself doing. I'm amazed that people actually make tea in pots this old. What did you use it for? (It's way out of my price range, so I'm just asking out of curiosity.)

Unfortunate, but as Robert Plant would say, “It’s Nobody’s Fault but Mine.”

I wasn’t too hung up about it as it’s only the lid, and perfectly fixable.

Black bones to the core!

Haha! Normally, I'm quite careful, but in this situation I was rather cavalier. Got caught up in the moment.

I have mainly used it for finer Yancha, but have tried Dancong and Black Tea with good results.

Nice! How does it compare to pre-1977 F1 Hongni? I feel like this may be comparing a Chevy to a Porsche ...
or is the price difference mainly due to its historical value?

@TeaTotaling: you and your pot have my sympathy, but I suppose that we could make the most of the situation and add your last photo to this thread, if you wish: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1113

The clean break in the gold is also interesting to me, but I'm conscious of trying not to sound like some fascinated scientist hovering over the scene of a tragedy...

Whaaata shame! It is a nice pot, funnily enough I have never ever seen this shape/size in perfect condition. Almost always the lid is broken. Might not 100% be your fault after all :)

Got a Changji like this in repair as we speak...
