I think something about the flat shape and low volume does this. It's certainly the fastest pour any teapot of mine has.

Also the filter took up about 1/5 of the body of the pot. Before pouring, 1/5 of the tea can pour out like a single hole teapot. Bigger the filter, stronger the water flow for the rest 4/5 of the tea. Pretty cool design

Pouring this fast and in a flat shape, I think this pot might actually also be suitable for more unusual tea combos(do not know about the clay though): Yancha, Dancong, Baozhong etc...

I just recently tried Tokoname Shudei with Dancong, which was very good, so unheard of matches do exist!

For a really long time I used this pot with young sheng puer. I have no doubt that it would work well with oolongs!

Laterally-related question : do you know what makes clay white? In the case of this pot, the inside seems darker, while the outside seems lighter. In other cases, I see kyusus which, I think, have the inside as light as the outside.

I think what is happening is seaweed covered areas and interior of kyusu is not as directly exposed to oxygen rich higher heat in kiln. When the interior clay of mogake kyusu is the same color as exterior, I’m thinking the seaweed wrapped lid is fired separately, ie not ontop of kyusu inside the kiln. I think the kyusu must be wrapped in seaweed after an initial bisque firing, otherwise the lid could fuse with the body.
