For sale is a curiosity. A late Qing, early Republican Yixing teapot.
It’s a patchwork item, the lid is Zisha clay, while the body is very fine Hongni.
When I got it, it had a chip at the lid and 2/3 of the handle missing. In a several months long project, I rebuild the missing parts with Kintsugi. The traditional way, with Urushi lacquer, rice, gold and other ingredients. At the base I made a wire skeleton to have a good material integrity.
I also sanded down the lid skirt, which was too tall and took away too much volume that would be better left for the tea... it has now an approximate 50ml volume.
For me this piece was more about the fun of repairing it, than the wish to use and keep it, which is why I am putting it up for adoption...
If you’re after perfection, this isn’t for you. But anyone who doesn’t mind a bit of Wabisabi and who wants to experience what old Yixing clay is about, this might be a good opportunity without breaking the bank...
The Hongni clay and original craftsmanship of the body is very good quality and the size and shape a good fit for expensive Yancha/Dancong and other open leaf teas. Thin walled. For all other details refer to images.
Price: 250$ (to be paid by PayPal in 7500 NTD currency)
Paypal fees and EMS shipping included.
Any questions, let me know...

Hi Bok,
I don't think I can send PMs (I might be able to receive them?), but I'd like to purchase this pot.
