FS: Yamada Emu Woodfired Kyusu
Up for sale is my Emu Kyusu, we just don’t really mesh. I am finding through expensive trial and error, I tend to prefer flatter and wider pots. Tall egg shapes don’t really do it for me. I may have some other tall pots up on the chopping block soon but this is the first.
Comes in at just around 195ml filled to the top. Dribbles a little if you hesitate on the pour, but it pours fast and strong with no hiccups. It seemed unused when I received it, I have only brewed lightly steamed sencha a few times in it.
$650 shipped/insured USD. I would prefer to keep it in the US so that I can insure it. I will consider partial/full trades. Really into hohins from Bizen right now or anything kind of wild interests me. Odd shapes, colors, etc.

Beautiful mayake kyusu. Sometimes I’ll sit for a year with certain kyusu just observing, before deciding what a good pairing might be.
It doesn’t really have to do with how it pairs with tea, but just how I enjoy teapots. I like to see the leaves, watch them grow and move. This is just too nice of a pot to collect dust.

Really nice Emu! I hope someone buys it quickly ... before I do!
I actually like taller kyusu and this has a nice wide opening. Often taller kyusu have rather small openings. But I do tend do reach for more squatty shapes much more often.
So, you watch the leaves as you brew? I do too. The vast majority of the time, I brew ... lid off ... and pour w/ lid off. The lid sits idly by ...

I hope someone does too! My watchlist on Yahoo Auctions is ticking down to the wire.Chip wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 5:33 pmReally nice Emu! I hope someone buys it quickly ... before I do!

I skip the lid a lot too, especially that first brew, I really like watching them expand. But I just can’t bring myself to buy a lidless kyusu, I want the option lol.
Find that hohin! The ashier the better.
One of the reasons I like going lidless is it helps break some old habits from when I was into gong fu, can’t pour too fast or just place the pot in a gong dao bei!
This truly is a gorgeous kyusu. Surely somebody who isn't strapped during covid will pick this up!
Having picked stuff up from Darby before I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from him again. Everything is clean as and he packs it very well.

Thank you for the kind words! I’ve got a big ol’ shipping charge to pay from a forwarding service, so I am eager to sell.
