Had a rare moment for a quiet afternoon tea out on my balcony. Teapot is by Petr Novak--unglazed stoneware with kiln fire effects. Cup and tea boat are both Korean ware, and the tray is by an American potter, but I think they go together nicely with Petr's work. Tea was a lovely fragrant Vietnamese (!) roasted oolong called Twin Sisters, from Miro Tea--a very surprising find at our last local tea festival.

Harmonious tea setting for an unexpectedly lovely tea.

Petr's summer chawan shines on a hot day. I put a few leaves of Tie Guan Yin from Yunnan Sourcing into the bowl, covered them with boiling water (quickly heated just what I was going to use for each infusion in the electric kettle to minimize the impact on the kitchen), and after a few minutes, filled with room temperature water for a refreshing drink.

It seems they may have gone their separate ways? Novak is no longer on the Keramik Studio website, as far as I can tell.

Same. What a shame -- guess instagram is the only option now?

Some new teaware will be available tomorrow. This time Mirka's offerings will be accompanied with pieces from Sedlak and Sklenička.

Website is up and there are some very fine pieces there, albeit none from Petr Novak. Sedlak's woodenwares are particularly lovely. If I didn't already have some lovely tea scoops for display by him I'd be buying those sweet curly maple pieces.

I was in contact with Mirka at the start of the year regarding her and Novak’s work and was told to deal with Petr on my own as they are no longer together. She also mentioned some changes on the site - which were probably removing him completely. I don’t know. I have a feeling he will return some way or another with its own site.

Speaking about the current sale I was instantly in loved with Sedlak’s cherry scoop. It was in “reserved” status so I was refreshing constantly and hoping someone will change its mind. Gladly it did so I grabbed it immediately. I own one of Sedlak’s scoop set I purchased from darjeeling.cz. It was more of an impulsive buy as I wanted one of his scoops (it is not hard to fall in love with his Instagram pictures) and it was kind of a mistake. I didn’t like it very much even when putting in the basket. Even less when I received it. I don’t like how it feels in the hand. It is too light and too wide for my taste. Like holding a styrofoam. It was a somehow expensive lesson. From then on I decided to just let it be and If I came across an opportunity to get something I like I will grab it. Luckily It payed off :D.

Petr Novak has opened a new website https://www.potsandtea.cz/shop
The prices are beyond my budget. Good for him! :D
And good for me, as I'll happily cherish the little treebark charcoal pot from 9 years ago.
