Still trying to located VOSS, Nice! Iceland Spring Water, and Aqua Panna.
The Nice! Iceland Springs water should be easy to find at any Walgreens. It’s their house brand spring water. It compares favorably to VOSS in my opinion, but costs less.

Haha, Walgreens is everywhere in the south/southwest but not so easy to find along the coasts. I remember in Starkville, Mississippi it was The store :) .

Wow! Surprisingly there are only 3 in Annapolis.

That reminds me of how GE, in Thirty Rock, is actually owned by the Sheinhardt Wig Company.

These three all have Walgreens signage from street view. Perhaps they are also wig companies!

With such a clear map I’ve got to set up to the plate and deliver  let’s see if Christmas Day or next day is a winner. I’m basically next to the Naval Academy in downtown Annapolis, so those Walmart’s are like 25-45minures away, uhhhh. Gotta walk a mile to... go on our Merry Merry Christmas way :) .

Nah, take your time or don’t bother. I was just trying to be helpful. Essentially, if you like VOSS with your tea I think you’ll like this brand. I didn’t find them to be very different. Both are low TDS high pH spring waters with a good flavor. I use Iceland Springs for all my teas now though I am certain that specific waters favor specific teas.

As a side...

My teen son was scoffing at me being so particular about water for my teas, especially since we drink tap all other occasions. So I set up a blind taste test with these four waters: tap, Iceland Springs, VOSS, and Crystal Geyser (Ouachita). I knew which water was which but only by an alphabet key, so I didn’t know which was which at the time of tasting. Each cup was identical.

He was shocked by the differences between each water. Austin tap ranked dead last and by a large margin considering his reaction. Crystal Geyser (Ouachita) came in third but wasn’t as outstanding as second and first place. Second was Iceland Springs and first was VOSS, but by a very skinny margin.

Now, as a treat, he’ll ask if he can have some of my water.

Next time, I should include Fiji, Aqua Panna, and filtered rain water.

Merry Christmas everyone! I use HK tap water, and earlier this year added bamboo charcoal to my electric kettles. The charcoal improves the taste of the water rather significantly, but does seem to make the water a bit softer than I'd like when the charcoal is fresh. A few years ago I tested around thirty bottled waters to compare to local tap, and found the tap preferable in every case: I used water from Tibet to Fiji to New Zealand to California, and nothing brewed better tea than our local tap water. Unfortunately there is a murky odor to it. The charcoal knocks this right down. I can't really complain if it's a teeny bit soft for my tastes when the water is fresh since it's basically free and readily accessible! :D And meets WHO standards.

I also live in a very well-managed apartment complex: our water tanks are professionally cleaned every three months or so. The government here does a great job of maintaining water quality, as does the MTR corporation (a semi-government entity that controls public transportation in HK, which is rated the world's best by a large margin).

I'm about an hour north of you. I stopped by Walgreen's today, but they were out of Nice! Spring water. Maybe next week.

Cant wait for the next time I go to the Appalachian trail and can try for some legitimate mountain spring water. I kinda hope it'a not great though. If it is, I can see myself driving 3 hour round trip for amazing water.

I bet that would taste great. Just treat it with a Steripen and you’re good to go.

I use my Los Angeles city tap water for tea at home and at work--but at home, to minimize hard water deposits from building up in my teapot, I use a Brita-type filter jug (current version is a Target house-branded version). At work, I don't have a large enough sink to use such a pitcher, and it's straight tap water. At the satellite clinic in Las Vegas, I use tap water also, no place to store a filter pitcher. Tea is still very good.

Still using Crystal Gyser, sub-par, although the ‘just okay’ Muzha I brought with tasted pretty good steeped in it yesterday. Christmas Day though it ruined my top quality oolong from Die Kunst Des Tees, ‘Tian Xiang Hong Oolong’. Interesting how big cities like New York, Hong Kong and Los Angeles all have good tap water.

I just ordered a case of Volvic. See how it does. This thread had me go out and buy a few different spring waters and also try my brooklyn tap water. I was only using the RO water for the last few years and some teas just didn't taste right with it.

TL;DR I mineralize my filtered tap water in a specific way.

Nice reading. Thanks for sharing your formula. I should try it. :P
