Late Frost in Wuyishan

Over the weekend some areas of Wuyishan experienced a late frost. Although the tea trees see snow during the winter, freezing temperatures will damage the new leaves. I don't yet know how widespread the damage is, and how much of an effect it will have on this year's harvest. My family members all went to check their gardens, they are generally happy with what they found. Other friends were less fortunate.

Very interesting, thanks for posting. Hopefully the crops still come out strong.

Thanks for the update. Always great to have an inside eye on this stuff.

I read something about this last week! The guy was all gloom and doom about the 2018 crop, but let's see what the tea really turns out like!

I have been told by Cindy Chen that this frost only affected the higher reaches of the region, that there was some damage in the Lapsang and Jinjunmei and some of the white teas but that the yancha gardens were largely unaffected. Incidentally, she claims that spring has been quite warm and that they anticipate beginning harvest around April 27th. The Dancong harvest of her husband's family has been completed.
