Yes, I am a notorious bitter-phobe and lover of dilute tea… but I also sometimes really enjoy a powerful young sheng Puerh, but dilute!
Ideal temperature for drinking; ideal amount....
There is no should or should not. As long as your kettle doesn't contain anything that imparts undesired stuff onto your water it is ok (plastic lining etc.).
I think it is good practice to avoid drinking hot liquids altogether as there are plenty of studies linking hot beverage consumption to esophageal cancer.
The case of tea is a bit interesting:
1. Drinking warm/cooled tea can reduce cancer risk
2. Drinking hot tea can increase cancer risk
So the temperature stress on the epithelial cells outweighs the famous protective effects of various polyphenols.

"Ideal" Temp. Does not scorch to iced is good.
Pretty much "as long as it is wet" is good as far as I am concerned.
"ideal amount" ... I'll take the 5th on that question.
The majority would unquestionably claim "that's too much! and/or get insulted and/or offended by how much I can put away on a warm (or not so warm) day.
