I probably average 5-6g of sencha per day during the week. Weekends, 7-14g per day. When hosting tea sessions, I’ll make 21-28g but that is spread over 4 people. In short, I keep my tea intake modest as I focus on quality rather than quantity. I also try to maintain a balanced consumption of tea.

I don’t drink any other caffeinated beverages. Some years ago, I calculated I was drinking 1200mg of caffeine via espresso each work day, then coming home and drinking another 6g of oolong! I didn’t feel any ill effects but I was clearly not consuming these beverages in moderation, so I went full stop. No withdrawals. I took a 6 month hiatus from tea and slowly worked it back into my life in a way that was much more balanced.

I would guesstimate that I drink on average about a litre or two, spending somewhere around 10-15g of tea leaves a day.

I tend to mostly focus one tea each day. But often drink more than one, partly because I often cold brew over night or boil tea that has already been brewed. I also drink matcha on average 3 times a week, sometimes more often sometimes less often. And then there are social tea sessions/gatherings, which I hold or attend on average 2 times a week.

On a regular weekday, 6-12g. Weekends, 20g.

This weekend I had about 80g in 24 hours... I'm having some light caffeine withdrawals today

Did you have a party  When our club gets together and we drink from 6pm to 2am we might go through +-10 teas, steeped +3 times, sipping in 20-30ml portions. So that’s a lot of tea :D

Just a 3 person party, we did 5pm - 1:30am, and then I continued by myself the next day ... I told them we had to outdo the LA crew!

2nd steep, 355ml afternoon

Another Spring Flush Darjeeling at home

On average it’s about 10 - 15g per day. If having friends over and serving tea, then it’s about 30g... but when tea buddies come over for a session.... things get crazy and would usually end up with more than 100g of tea consumed!

This is our last session... approximately 200g of tea. That’s a 16” rectangular pan.. 😈😈

I've been really cutting down my tea consumption lately. Some days I don't drink tea at all during work. I've been strict about not drinking caffeinated tea after 1pm so that I can fall asleep at 10:30 consistently every day. For the past 2-3 months I was going to bed at 11-12. I've noticed that I'm more sensitive to more caffeinated and less processed teas now (like silver needle and green teas), and that I don't like their taste as much, finding them more astringent than I did in the past. I think I feel more anxiety in my stomach when I drink these teas, as I am prone to feeling anxiety or in my stomach whenever I get nervous or stressed or excited etc. I need to try going back to my staple Taiwanese oolongs which have always taken good care of me and to see how I feel during this new sleeping experiment.

During a work week it's usually 3g of sheng puer (grandpa style) in the morning, another 3g of sheng puer in the afternoon, and then 5g of sheng/shu/black tea/oolong/whatever kung fu brewed after dinner and shared with family.

4g of usually sheng, brewed over 3-4 days, had when at home so evenings and weekends. If shou it is probably down to 2 days as that doesn't usually go as long.
3-4g of something in a brew basket at work, 2+ days depending (sticky rice oolong goes for a whole week).
~5g Chinese green or oolong cold brewed in 1l bottle at work, brewed over whole working week so 5 days.

So some of you get through in a day what I have in a week! Admittedly, if I'm drinking sencha and a lot of shou instead, then I get through more.

I mainly use gaiwans: a short session at home in the morning, and at least one more at work, so that translates to between 12g to 20g daily.

I use about 6g per session to get a few good steeps (varying of course between green and pu erh).

I usually do 6-8 grams in yixing or chao zhou pots 2-3 times a day. Usually a liter of water per session. Mainly Dan Cong, High Mountain Oolongs or Sheng Puer. And a liter of chrysanthemum late night. I used to drink a lot more tea a few years back but was getting pretty bad caffeine withdrawals so really cut back and just did it western style for last two years. Also really cut back on black, green and white teas as they don't agree with me as well as the oolongs. I am now back into gongfu so I am slowly consuming more.

On weekdays I steep 3-5g of black tea at home and bring it to work, then drink throughout the day. My thermos keeps it nice and hot. When I get home I usually do either one 5g session or two 3g sessions. So around 10-15g on weekdays.

On weekends I can drink anywhere from 10-20g. Sometimes 25g if I'm doing side by side comparisons.

Roughly 6-10g a day during my usual session before dinner. Sometimes I'll have a tuo cha of sheng for breakfast, but more often than not I'm not able to appreciate a nice tea early in the morning.
I cut down my tea consumption a lot during the last years. Back when I was in university, especially in winter, I went as far as 50g a day. Long exam sessions, cold weather outside, not much to do except study. It seemed like the most reasonable thing to do. I stopped when going a day without tea meant spending the better part of my waking hours with a headache.
