It varies, but usually around 16g a day, most often 2x 5-8g sessions a day and a sencha in the morning.

i try to keep tea to the morning, so i can sleep at night. around 6g of whatever i'm feeling like in a 100mL gaiwan is usually what i drink. 3 to 7+ infusions depending on how much school work i've got to do.

Yesterday was typical...

8g of LB in the morning...

A few cups of Oolong in a shop when I dropped by for a hit...

10g of Oolong when I got home cos I wanted more...

8g of PE before bed, while watching Spanish period piece on Netflix...

Morning shu: 8 g per me and my wife. (6g for solo session)
Then 1 or 2 teas (not shu) 5-7 g per session.
2-3 days a month I don't drink tea (or any coffein drink) just to make sure I can live without it. No issues until now. I am productive +- the same with or without tea.

2-3 days in a row or spread out throughout the month?

For me the dependency monster didn't really reveal itself until almost a week without caffeine (this was true both for coffee and tea).

It depends. Now that you asked I would say it is 2-5 days a month. I work hybrid model (I have to go to the office twice a week) and if I do not wake up early enough for a calm tea session I don't drink tea. I don't like to rush.

Usually I go to the office 2 days in a row. So sometimes it's 1 day, sometimes 2 days without tea. 3 days I think does not really happen.

In the last 3 years I only once stayed 10 days without tea (intentionally) and nothing really happened. A little bit hard to fall asleep first 2 days and after it a better sleep. There was a small drop in the energy but it did not affect my life. Then it was long boring days with no tea :)

I am probably more dependent of the process/ceremony then of the coffein.

How did yours showed/felt after 1 week?

Recently had to deal with family emergency- resulting in about 8 days with no tea. Because i was quite depressed and distracted- i did not have any desire for tea either and only went back to it slowly - a few grams every day.

I noticed i was absolutely exausted - a combination of factors. It took another few weeks before i went back to about 7- 10g a day.

During the time i only drank a few grams a day- it was simply a source of comfort- the familiar warm liquid - and the unfolding green leaves stirring in the tall glass

Motlys as a powerful migrene coupled with strong irritability. My most intense experience of this is almost a decade past, back when I was drinking plenty of both coffee and tea. It didn't even occur to me that it was withdrawal symptoms at first...

Hope thing are better now, @LeoFox

Yeah lots of tea and coffee can make it probably. I hope too that it is in the past now!

Significantly lover caffeine consumption now (probably steep around 15 grams of tea leaves per day, but no coffee) though still more than I think would be optimal. Would definitely still feel it if I for some reason had to go cold turkey though.

One can try drinking other things to perk up. I drink soda water w/ a teaspoon or 2 of vinegar.

For a soothing effect of a hot drink w/o caffeine I drink Brasa (a powder from Portugal, now a Nestle product) made from cereals (grains) & chicory. One can add sugar, molasses, milk, a bit of brew made from chicory.... So, less late night tea for me.

I'm surprised I never answered this question. I usually gongfu steep about 6 g of oolong or hongcha per day. Some days I'll do another 6 g session or Western steep about 4 g of tea, or I might start a session and then finish it the next day. I'd say I drink 6-12 g of tea per day, trending toward the lower end of that estimate. And like others have mentioned, my tea stash far exceeds what I can reasonably drink.

Is it? Just a question of time. Even greens can be stored for well over a year in cool conditions.

Also gotta keep some when climate change kills off the tea industry
