Transporting teas when moving internationally

Hello,

Has anyone moved internationally with your tea collection and how did you make sure teas were safe? I'm thinking of taking some in the suitcase with me and some in the big boxes that will be in whatever storage for sometime till we settle in a house but I'm worried about this latter option. How possible is it to bring everything with you in a big suitcase? Border problems?

I've only moved between Europe and Canada and only a few kilos of tea, never any issue related to tea. A pewter tea caddy in a carry-on might need a detailed inspection but no problem.

I moved in Europe with like 5kg of tea several times. No issues for me. There were questions, strange looks, but I did not,,hide,, my tea and they saw lots of strange looking plants( shengs and white cakes were the most strange for them) and my scale used oftentimes not for tea or jewelry :) . But in the end it was always good. Several questions and nothing more for me.

I don't know about large ammounts, but I once carried 1 Kg of rolled emerald jade green tea in an unmarked, vaccum sealed mylar bag. I flew to the U.S. from Germany, no problem!

No real experience but at one time I looked seriously into moving to Australia, and the rules seemed pretty strict.. It would be interesting if someone had actual experience in crossing this border with tea?
