How important is it to empty out my pot and rinse after brewing? I often leave the leaves in the pot overnight and finish the session the next day. Will this negatively affect my pot? I'm not too worried about mold as I leave the lid open and my house is pretty dry.
I do it all the time. I haven't had any issues yet.Teachronicles wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2018 3:08 amHow important is it to empty out my pot and rinse after brewing? I leave oolong inside teapot to steep overnight most evenings. With sencha I put leaves with water in a lidded glass cup in refridgerator overnight or for a few days.
I never do in clay teapot (I have on accident and it made the pot smell icky but this was much over 12 hrs). I have in my porcelain gaiwan before but am rarely happy with it the next time I brew. It seems like bad practice and bad habit that has little payoff (the tea is worse, can affect pot seasoning) . I think if you want smaller session use a smaller pot, less leaf, start sooner, or share with someone else.
I do it all the time with my clay pots, because one session for me is usually 500ml water, and nothing is steeped out at that.
