That's a thorough and interesting post! Has it been a difficult year for tea only in Yunnan or throughout China? (I'm thinking about Fujian and Lapsang/Tie Guan Yin in particular.)

So in my recent order, I scored a sample of Lao ban zhang that was sourced from the trip described in the blog post. Nice stuff, truly

sorry for late respond. Thanks. Yes, it is overall China issue. Our Dan Cong farmer didn't make Dancong Hong for example this year. Some other teas ( not only puerh ) werent produced from spring material as well. Now there is a summer harvest and it's sold as spring Some vendors say , because this summer wasn't raining much , the quality is very near to the spring harvest. From what I've tried , I can not agree. But I've tried just 2 summer teas, so there might be some good sumer tea as well.

Thanks! I guess spring came late in China this year. Good thing I have enough tea to get through a not-so-great harvest.

Just a slight correction of LeoFox post. The LBZ puerh we drunk and I described on the blog was from family No.10 ( farmer's price 16k CNY /kg ) , the sample I have ( around 100g ) is from family No.98 ( farmer's price 12k CNY/kg ) which is better , in my opinion. I can sell samples of that 1.7$/g.
I also have other bags from that trip ( LME - ku cha, tian cha ; Pa Dian - gu shu ; Mang Ban - da shu ; Pa Sha - gu shu , Hua Zhu Liang Zi - qiao mu ) ...can update prices for those as well if interested , or can create some T-sourcing sample pack? I don't know , please share your opinion.

Tea sample box has arrived. It will be a fun week trying different mao cha from @aet. First up is the 2023 family 98 LBZ on an empty stomach. Surprisingly thick tea broth, good hui gan, slight tartness, and nice looking leaves. I used a lower than typical puerh temperature to brew this sample to prevent leaves from being overcooked. Drinking mao cha in small quantity can be educational and an enjoyment; however, drinking mao cha in large quantity is definitely a torture
